CFL Picks and Parlays Today: Best Props and Picks for Sept. 7

In Labour Day action in the CFL, there are two games on the schedule. Here, we share our best CFL picks and parlays for the late game, in which the Calgary Stampeders (5-6) host the Edmonton Elks (8-3).
At bet365 Sportsbook, Edmonton is the slight road favorite at -1.5 with a total of 59.5.
This game is the longest Labour Day rivalry and the 65th edition of the Battle of Alberta.
Edmonton Still the Top Dog
After losing two in a row, the Elks have rebounded to win their last two games, and they are atop the West Division. Following a blowout win over Toronto, in it put up 42 points, Edmonton leaned on a CFL-leading defense in the last game — a 22-19 win over Winnipeg.
In the Winnipeg game, Cody Fajardo was 20-for-32 with 259 passing yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Justin Rankin rushed for 93 yards and T.J. Luther led the way with 85 yards on seven catches.
Fajardo (3,368 yards, 18 TD, 6 INT) has not been putting up huge numbers in the last few games and has five TDs and two INTs over the last four games. Rankin rushed for over 100 yards in three of the first four games of the season and only averaged 37 rushing yards per game over five games before 93 in the last one. These guys will have a chance to pad their stats in this game facing a Calgary team that ranks second-to-last in the CFL, giving up an average of 31.8 ppg.
This game pits Edmonton's top-ranked defense, which is giving up an average of 25.4 points per game, against Calgary, the league's highest-scoring team (36.9 ppg).
Calgary Looks for a First
The Stampeders are looking for a first in this game, as they have not beaten a team with a winning record this year. They are last in the West Division and the only team in it under .500.
Calgary snapped their two-game losing streak in their last game with a 28-23 win over Hamilton. In the win, Josh Love was 25/36 for 274 yards with a TD and an INT; Dedrick Mills had a solid game with 118 rushing yards and a TD; and Dejon Brissett and Jalen Philpot combined for 131 receiving yards.
Love’s last game was his first start of the season, and Vernon Adams Jr. (2,548 yards, 22 TD, 2 INT) is expected to start after missing the last game with a head injury.
Mills (874 yards, 4 TD) will get a lot of touches out of the backfield and ranks second in the league in rushing yards. He will face a solid Elks’ run defense that is giving up an average of 89.7 rushing yards per game.
CFL Picks and Parlays Today (Sept. 7)
Edmonton has the league’s top defense, and they played like it in the last game. They will play solid D and contain Mills, keeping him from another big game. On offense, Fajardo and company will get it done facing a suspect Stampeders’ defense that played well in the last game but has struggled against good teams. Edmonton will have a good game on both sides of the ball, as they will win their third in a row and will also cover the short spread.
Prediction: Elks to cover the spread - bet365, -110
The total has gone Under for Calgary’s last three games, even though they are the highest-scoring team in the league. The total has gone Under in three of Edmonton's last four games, and in their last two games, they've held opponents to a total of 31 points. The Elks’ defense will get it done in this game, and that is the main reason the Under is the pick for this West Division Clash.
Prediction: Under 59.5 points - bet365, -110
Elks vs. Stampeders Parlay
Here is a three-leg parlay for the CFL's Labour Day Classic.
- Vernon Adams Jr. Under 255.5 passing yards: bet365, -115 – In his last two full games, Adams Jr. has passed for 252 yards and 159 yards, respectively.
- Dedrick Mills Over 58.5 rushing yards: bet365, -115 – While the Edmonton defense will keep him from having a big game, he will rush for over 58.5 yards, which he has done in two of the last three games.
- Austin Mack to score a TD: bet365, +120 – Mack is the leading receiver for the Elks and has caught a TD pass in two of the last three games.
The overall odds for this parlay are +541, so a $100 bet would net a profit of $541 and a total payout of $641.
