Toronto is coming off a blowout win that leveled their record to .500, and they are in second place in the East Division.

Saskatchewan (6-4) has lost two in a row and is sitting in second place in the West Division.

In Week 4 at Regina, with the World Cup being played at BMO Field in Toronto, the Argonauts beat the Roughriders 40-34.

Balanced Offense and Big Second Half Lead to Argos’ Win 

In their last game, Toronto beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 39-20, outscoring them 24-3 in the second half and showing a balanced offensive attack. While they gave up 401 yards, they racked up 434 yards with 289 passing yards and 145 rushing yards.

Chad Kelly passed for three TDs and one INT, Isaiah Smith rushed for 99 yards averaging 6.6 yards per carry, and Demonte Coxie and Tyler Kahmann combined for 149 receiving yards.

Kelly (3,226 yards, 21 TDs, 15 INTs) ranks third in the CFL in passing yards but has had turnover issues. He has one pick in each of the last two games and faces a Roughriders’ defense that has given up the second fewest points. In the Week 4 win over Saskatchewan, Kelly passed for 321 yards with two TDs and one INT.

The Argos are only 3-5 on the road this season, but they are 3-1 ATS in their last four games.

Offensive Issues for Saskatchewan

After averaging 34.3 ppg over their first eight games, the Roughriders have only totaled 35 points in their last two games.

In their last game, they lost to the BC Lions 30-16; they had 410 total yards but gave up 414, were 0-for-2 in the Red Zone, and committed four turnovers. Trevor Harris passed for 356 yards with a TD and two picks, Quali Conley led the way with only 33 rushing yards, and Dhel-Duncan Busby led three players with at least 66 receiving yards with 85 yards and a score.

Harris (3,218 yards, 21 TDs, 11 INTs) has a TD and two INTs in each of the last two games, and in the earlier season loss to the Argos, passed for a season-high 409 yards with two TDs and an INT.

Star WR KeeSean Johnson (844 yards, 6 TDs) has been up and down in the last few games, and the Roughriders are without another star WR in Kian Schaffer-Baker (704 yards, 4 TDs) due to injury.

Running back A.J. Ouellette (288 yards) has only played in four games this season and is just off the six-game injury reserve list and may play against Toronto. The Roughriders could use a jolt to the run game, and Conley has only totaled 56 rushing yards in the last two games.

Look for them to get back on track against a Toronto team that has defensive issues. They are giving up an average of 31.1 ppg, and while they held Hamilton to 20 points in the last game, they gave up over 400 yards.

The Argos have won three of their last four games and will put up a fight. While they may not get the win, they will cover in what I see as a close game.
