Millar Ready to Shine in the English Premier League

After helping Hull City to promotion from the EFL Championship last term, Canada international Liam Millar is ready to shine in the English Premier League.

The EPL is highly regarded as the best soccer league on the planet, and ex-Canada internationals like Tomasz Radzinski and Junior Hoilett made big impacts in England’s top tier – Millar is hoping to follow suit for the Tigers in the 2026-27 campaign.

Millar Vital in Hull’s Championship Promotion

Against all odds, Hull booked their place in the Premier League after winning the Championship play-offs. Before a ball was kicked last term, the Tigers were tipped for another relegation battle, having only finished above the relegation zone on goal difference the year before.

Hull was excellent from start to finish under new boss Sergej Jakirovic, and Millar played a huge role in City’s success. The ex-Liverpool youth international made 33 league appearances, scoring three and assisting two.

Millar’s presence on the field was worth its weight in gold for Hull. The Ontario-born winger loves to take on his opponents out wide, and the pacey 1-v-1 attacker could be a breath of fresh air in next term’s EPL.

Millar’s Impact in the 2026 World Cup

Millar started in Canada’s first game of the 2026 World Cup, playing an hour in the 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina. He was left out of the 6-0 victory over Qatar and came on as a substitute in the 2-1 loss to Switzerland.

Millar was back in Jesse Marsch’s starting XI for the Round-of-32 tie with South Africa, playing 70 minutes. The Canadians picked up a 1-0 win in what will go down as the nation’s finest-ever World Cup moment. Unfortunately, he was left out of the last-16 loss to Morocco.

Millar’s World Cup experience will stand him in good stead for the upcoming Premier League campaign with his club, and the 26-year-old will no doubt have a big part to play in Hull’s fight for top-flight survival next season.
