It doesn’t get any bigger than this. The 2026 World Cup semifinal takes place on Tuesday between France and Spain, two European giants fighting for a place in the final. Both nations remain unbeaten but something has to give at the AT&T Stadium. So, who’s going to come out on top?

France and Spain have met five times since 2014, where Spain have come out on three occasions. Spain managed to beat France 2-1 in the Euro semifinals back in 2024, as well as 5-4 in a dramatic Nations League semifinal.

And so the French are out seeking revenge - and they might just get it. They have been flawless all summer long. They’ve scored plenty of goals, kept clean sheets and the strength of their overall squad is a huge factor behind their success.

Spain also haven’t lost yet their performances have often been a little underwhelming. We haven’t seen the same Spain side that won the Euros in a convincing manner two years ago, despite having only conceded one goal to date.

That came in the last round against Belgium, where both their defense and midfield looked vulnerable, and a similar performance against the French would not suffice.

France vs Spain Predictions

It’s hard to look past France. Didier Deschamps has been in charge of this French team for an incredibly long period and it’s showing. He knows his players inside out and how to get the best out of them.

Often, teams don’t have much time together when it comes to international football but having a settled squad for a number of years has clearly given the French an advantage.

It also massively helps having an abundance of talent within the squad. In attack, France have PSG’s Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe and Bayern’s Michael Olise, to name a few. The depth is incredible and even if Deschamps needs to rotate due to tired legs, he has so much more in reserve than other nations at this World Cup.

And while Spain also has a lot of talent, their bench is nowhere near as deep as the French. When changes happen, they naturally weaken, which is why they have just about beaten Portugal and Belgium in the last two rounds.

They have been lethargic at times, slow with their build up play and Belgium caught them on the transition - something the French could easily look to exploit.

France vs Spain Betting Tips & Best Bets

France to win +130

So, what are the best bets for this match? France do look a really solid bet at +130 to win this match inside 90 minutes. They have beaten all six nations so far at the World Cup including Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco without conceding in the knockout stage.

Everything has been rather straightforward for them. Whether playing teams who will look to come out and play or nations that sit back and look to make it difficult, Deschamps appears to have a plan - and it has worked so far.

Kylian Mbappe to score +120

A second bet has to be for Kylian Mbappe to score at +120. The French forward has been on fire this World Cup, scoring in every single match. In fact, he’s scored three braces and is currently tied with Lionel Messi to win the Golden Boot.

This is his biggest price to date, which is a surprise, mainly because of how good his form is this summer but also down to the fact Spain’s defense is rather slow. Their fullbacks look weak and the French have been excellent on the wing.

Mbappe also takes penalties, which gives us another edge with his to score anytime bet.
