Canadian international striker Cyle Larin has been in red-hot form for Southampton at the start of this season, scoring two in two.

As the Saints strive for promotion to the English Premier League, Larin has a huge role to play for his club this season. Can the 31-year-old keep up his fine form when Stoke City visits St. Mary’s Stadium?

Larin Impresses at World Cup

Larin was one of the shining stars for his national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hitting two goals.

The Southampton striker earned Canada its first-ever World Cup point, coming off the bench to net the equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina in game one.

Larin was also on target in the record-breaking 6-0 rout over Qatar on matchday two. Jonathan David may have stolen the show with an impressive hat-trick, but Larin’s goal got the ball rolling.

Two in Two for Southampton

Larin was a huge hit at St. Mary’s while on loan from Mallorca, with the club making the move to sign him permanently just before the World Cup.

The Brampton-born forward has made a big impact already this season, netting two goals in his opening two matches. He was on target in Southampton’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Colchester United.

Larin followed that up by getting his name on the scoresheet in the Saints’ Championship opener at Watford last Sunday. However, his team was 2-0 down before he reduced the deficit in the eventual 2-1 loss.

The attacker, who spent three years with Orlando City SC in MLS earlier in his career, will have a big part to play in the English second tier this season.

Can the Saints Claw Back Points Deficit?

Tonda Eckert’s men will be pushing for promotion to the EPL this season, but they sit bottom of the pile on -4 points after breaching EFL regulations. The club is already seven points behind the leader.

Larin and his Southampton teammates will be eager to bounce back from the Watford loss with three points against Stoke City today.

The Saints now have three consecutive league and cup matches at St. Mary’s, and Larin & Co. are looking to make the most of home advantage.
