Despite having an excellent 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Canada national team, Jonathan David could be heading for the Juventus exit door this summer.

After an unconvincing first season in Turin, recent reports suggest that head coach Luciano Spalletti is ready to offload the striker.

Looking Back at Canada's Memorable World Cup

Canada has just had a superb 2026 World Cup as one of the co-hosts. The nation well and truly caught World Cup fever as the Reds broke all sorts of records to reach the last 16.

Before the World Cup, Canada had lost six out of six on the big stage. However, the nation meant business this time, picking up its first-ever point and victory in the group stage.

Jesse Marsch’s men beat South Africa in Canada’s maiden knockout game, with Stephen Eustaquio scoring at the death. However, Canada was knocked out in the Round of 16, losing 3-0 to Morocco in Houston.

David’s Terrific Treble

The second game of Canada’s World Cup will go down in history, as Marsch’s side hammered Qatar 6-0 at BC Place in Vancouver.

David was ready to shine on the grandest stage of international soccer, and the 26-year-old, who was born in New York, scored a hat-trick to steal the show in front of a 52,000-capacity crowd.

Where Next for Canada’s No. 10?

David was on fire for Lille, earning a big move to Juventus before the 2024-25 season. However, he has struggled to adapt to life in Italy, scoring just six Serie A goals.

The former Gent man has expressed his desire to stay and fight for his place at the Juventus Stadium, but Spalletti could allow David to leave this summer. That said, after a fine World Cup, many clubs will be keeping tabs on the Canada international.

As he proved in the World Cup, David has an eye for goal and loves the big occasion. Whether with Juventus or not, David has a bright future at the very top of the game.
