Canada’s Larin in Red-Hot Championship Form for Southampton

Cyle Larin is enjoying a fine season for Southampton in the EFL Championship, scoring five goals in six fixtures.

As the Saints bid to get back to the English Premier League, Larin will have a huge part to play at St Mary’s Stadium this term.

Larin Hits the Ground Running

The Canada international was a huge hit with the Southampton fans after joining on loan from Mallorca halfway through the 2025-26 Championship campaign. Larin scored eight goals to help his team reach the end-of-season play-offs.

After such an impressive loan spell, his move was made permanent on the eve of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Larin celebrated the deal by scoring the goal to secure Canada’s first-ever World Cup point.

He followed that up with a goal against Qatar in the 6-0 rout. Not only was it the national side’s first World Cup win, but it was the largest CONCACAF margin of victory and the first time a host nation had scored six goals in a single match since 1978.

Larin has made a stunning start to this season, scoring six goals in eight league and cup outings, with five of those coming in the Championship. The 31-year-old is joint top of the scoring chart with Middlesbrough’s Will Lankshear.

Saints Entertain Robins at St Mary’s

Larin and Southampton are looking to keep the momentum ticking when they face Bristol City in Championship action today. The Saints are looking for another three points.

Southampton made light work of in-form Swansea City in the last one, with Larin on target in the 3-1 victory over the Swans. The Canadian has also netted against Colchester United, Watford, Stoke City, and Millwall this season.

Promotion is the aim for Southampton, and Larin’s ultimate ambition is to play in the Premier League. Tonda Eckert’s men have made a strong start, and they will fancy their chances of seeing off Bristol City at home later today.
