Liam Millar Looking to Shine for Hull City in the English Premier League

Canadian international Liam Millar is hoping to make a big impact for Hull City in the English Premier League this season.

Millar featured in City’s stunning victory over Manchester United last weekend, but the winger is looking to nail down a starting place at the MKM Stadium.

Tigers Stun Red Devils

Hull is back in the Premier League after winning promotion from the EFL Championship. The Tigers were being tipped for relegation to the third tier a year ago, but new boss Sergej Jakirovic did an outstanding job in his first season in charge.

In its first game back in England’s top division, Hull entertained the mighty Man United. Naturally, Jakirovic’s boys were the underdogs, but City claimed a deserved 2-0 victory over the underperforming Red Devils.

Semi Ajayi gave the home team a 17th-minute lead, and Nobel Mendy doubled Hull’s advantage before half time. The host comfortably held on for all three points in game one.

City followed that up with a penalty shootout victory over EFL Championship side Stoke City in the second round of the Carabao Cup in midweek. After a 1-1 draw in normal time, Hull won 5-4 in the shootout.

Millar Looking to Nail Down Starting Place

Millar, who played three times for Canada in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, came off the bench in Hull’s win against Man United last Saturday. The Canadian then played all 90 minutes at Stoke in the cup, scoring a penalty.

Millar is now looking to cement his place in Hull’s Premier League starting XI. The Toronto-born winger played a vital role in City’s Championship promotion last season, making 33 league appearances.

The 26-year-old will be pushing for a start when Hull face Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena this weekend.

This was a Championship fixture last season, and both clubs are desperate for Premier League survival. Coventry lost 3-0 at Arsenal in its opener.

It may only be the second game of the season, but the Coventry-Hull match already feels like a relegation six-pointer. Can Millar and the Tigers return home with a positive result?
