Canadian international Liam Millar is on a season-long loan at Birmingham City from English Premier League club Hull City.

Having helped the Tigers reach England’s top division last term, can the 27-year-old from Toronto secure back-to-back promotions from the EFL Championship?

Millar Enjoying His Time in Birmingham

It has been a strange few months for Millar. He went to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Canada but played in only three games.

Despite scoring in Hull’s 1-0 win over Coventry City in the Premier League in August, Millar was loaned to Championship club Birmingham for the rest of the 2026-27 season.

The Canadian was expected to play a big role for Hull this season, but he is instead back in the Championship and ready to help the Blues pursue promotion.

Millar has played five Championship games for Birmingham and looked sharp in the process. The former Liverpool youth player scored his first City goal in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough last month.

He also played in Canada’s three games during the break, starting against Peru and the USA.

Can the Blues Push for Promotion This Season?

Backed by American owners, including NFL star Tom Brady, Birmingham are expected to do big things this season. The club from the English Midlands is one of many Championship teams with EPL aspirations.

Birmingham has made a solid start to their 2026-27 league campaign, currently sitting seventh after nine games. The Blues have picked up three wins, drawn five times and have suffered just one defeat.

City returned from the international break last week with a hard-fought victory over rivals West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns. August Priske’s 41st-minute penalty won the derby.

Birmingham are back in action tonight, facing bottom-side Preston North End at St Andrew’s. Millar and his teammates will be looking for another three points before this weekend’s home match against Queens Park Rangers.
