Last season, Winnipeg failed to make the playoffs, and while they made some good offseason moves, the club entered this season with question marks. Still, the Jets are off to a great start, winning their last three games after a season-opening loss.

Winnipeg Gets Impressive Win

The Jets were at home in their last game and got their best win so far this season with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. It was the Avs' first loss of the season, and most top sportsbooks in Canada have them as the betting favorites to win the Stanley Cup.

In the win over Colorado, Kyle Connor and Cole Perfetti lit the lamp to give the Jets a 2-1 second-period lead. After the Avs tied it 2-2 in the third period, Connor played the hero, scoring the game-winner with only a minute remaining in regulation. Mark Scheifele had two assists, and Stuart Skinner notched his second win of the season, stopping 32 of 34 shots.

Skinner’s performance was more than solid facing a Colorado team that had totaled 14 goals in their first two games. He has been consistent, giving up two goals in each of his three starts, and backup Clay Stevenson gave up two goals in his only start.

More Defence than Offence

In their last three games, the Jets are winning more with defence than their offence. They have scored three goals in all four games this season, and in their three-game winning streak, they have allowed only two goals in each. Connor has blown out of the gates with five goals in four games and ranks tied for second in the NHL in goals.

It's early in the season, but Winnipeg has the second-most points in the NHL and is tied with the Edmonton Oilers atop the Western Division.

Up Next

The Jets host the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night, then do not play again until next Tuesday, when they host the Minnesota Wild.
