Toronto FC continued its upswing in form with a stunning victory at Inter Miami on Saturday.

The Canadians were the big underdogs in Florida, but Robin Fraser’s boys defied the odds and secured a deserved 2-1 victory at Nu Stadium, extending the unbeaten MLS streak to four games.

Toronto Leaves Miami with Maximum Points

Toronto picked up an impressive away victory at Inter Miami on Saturday. After a goalless first period, Josh Sargent opened the scoring for the Reds on the hour mark, with Derrick Etienne doubling the lead three minutes later.

The great Lionel Messi pulled one back for the host with eight minutes to go, but Toronto held on for a priceless three points.

Unbeaten in Four

Toronto has well and truly put its poor form to bed, unbeaten in four MLS fixtures. Before a 2-1 victory over New England Revolution in mid-August, the Canadians were winless in 12, and the pressure was mounting on Fraser.

The Reds have turned a corner, winning two and drawing two of their last four in MLS. Sandwiched in between wins against New England and Inter Miami was a 3-3 draw with Charlotte.

New York City Up Next

Toronto will be desperate to keep the positive run going with another win next weekend when New York City visits BMO Field.

New York recently won four of six in MLS, but heads to Ontario after defeats to Philadelphia Union and Cincinnati.

Also, City faces a trip to New England in midweek before travelling to Canada. The Boys in Blue will be no pushovers, but in-form Toronto will fancy its chances of making it three wins in four.

The two teams clashed in the Big Apple just a few weeks ago, playing out a 1-1 tie. New York is unbeaten in six in this fixture (five wins, one draw), with Toronto’s last win coming in April 2023.
