Pereira Rescues Point for Toronto in Six-Goal Thriller with Orlando

Toronto FC was involved in another dramatic MLS game on Wednesday night, drawing 3-3 with Orlando City SC at BMO Field.
Robin Fraser’s men looked to be heading for another MLS defeat, but Matheus Pereira had other ideas, rescuing a point for the Canadians in the 89th minute.
Topsy-Turvy Game in Ontario
Both teams went into Tuesday’s game desperate for three points. With the playoffs approaching, the Reds have work to do to sneak into the top nine in the Eastern Conference, while City is in a good position going into the final few matches.
The fixture was open from the first minute, and Lewis Morgan followed up his goal in the Canadian Classique by opening the scoring. However, a Martin Ojeda penalty on the stroke of half time put Orlando level at the break.
Theo Corbeanu restored Les Rouges’ lead, but goals from Antoine Griezmann and Daryl Dike swung the game in Orlando’s favour. However, Pereira popped up in the 89th minute to give the home team a share of the spoils.
Can Toronto Sneak into the Playoffs?
The Eastern Conference is tight in and around the playoff spots. FC Cincinnati is currently in ninth position on 36 points, with Toronto just three points behind in 11th.
Only three points separate New York Red Bulls in eighth from DC United in 12th. A playoff berth is well and truly up for grabs for the team that wants it the most.
After consecutive defeats to Orlando, St. Louis City SC and Nashville SC, Toronto has responded by taking four points from the last two. Before Wednesday’s draw, Fraser’s boys came from behind to beat CF Montreal 2-1.
Toronto has five regular-season games to play, with only one at home. Next up is a tough-looking trip to New York Red Bulls. However, if they can get the win in Harrison, the Canadians would go level on points with Michael Bradley’s men.
