Montreal Makes it Four MLS Games Unbeaten Before Trip to Miami

CF Montreal’s improved form continued with a hard-fought draw with LA Galaxy at the weekend.

Impact is now unbeaten in four in MLS as Philippe Eullaffroy’s men gear up for this weekend’s trip to Nu Stadium to face Inter Miami.

Thriller at Saputo Stadium

The spirits were high within the Montreal camp after the 2-1 win at Columbus Crew. The victory in Ohio ended an eight-game winless run in MLS and was the team’s first league triumph since early May.

Montreal welcomed LA Galaxy to Quebec last weekend, and the pair put on a show and played out a four-goal thriller at Saputo Stadium.

Daniel Rios opened the scoring for Impact after 16 minutes, though Ruben Ramos levelled for Galaxy shortly after.

The away team took the lead just after half time, but the game swung when Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski was sent off. Prince Owusu rescued a point late on.

Montreal is still languishing towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference table, collecting just 21 points from 21 games. However, the Canadians have certainly improved under interim head coach Eullaffroy.

Inter Miami Next Up for Montreal

Montreal has not lost in MLS since a narrow 1-0 defeat to Inter Miami in late July. It was a tight game at Saputo Stadium, with a late Luis Suarez penalty giving the Herons a narrow victory.

Montreal will be out for revenge when the two teams clash at Nu Stadium this weekend. However, CFM has a poor recent record in this fixture, losing each of the previous four meetings.

Inter Miami has been flying under Guillermo Hoyos, but the Florida team is winless in four MLS games. Since six wins on the bounce, Inter has lost two and tied two.

Hoyos’ troops are looking to strike back after the disappointing 2-1 home loss to Canadian club Toronto FC last weekend. However, in-form Montreal could be a tough nut to crack for the home side.
