Fraser’s Toronto FC Aiming to Stretch Unbeaten MLS Streak to Five Games

This weekend in MLS, Toronto FC welcomes New York City FC to BMO Field. Robin Fraser’s in-form team is looking for a third win in four league games.

Toronto has turned a corner, unbeaten in four MLS matches. The Boys in Blue will be no pushovers in Ontario, but can the Reds rack up another three points?

Pressure Alleviated on Fraser

After the 1-1 draw with New York at the start of the month, Fraser was a man under serious pressure. Toronto had gone 12 MLS games without a win, and the boss was realistically one defeat away from being fired.

However, Toronto finally ended its woeful winless run in the next game, defeating New England Revolution by two goals to one at BMO Field. The Reds then came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Charlotte FC on home soil.

Toronto picked up the result of its season last time out. The Canadians were the big underdogs against Inter Miami at Nu Stadium, but goals from Josh Sargent and Derrick Etienne were enough for a deserved 2-1 win in Florida.

Can Toronto Secure Maximum Points This Weekend?

Toronto goes up against New York in MLS action this weekend. When the teams locked horns earlier in the month, Nicolas Fernandez and Djordje Mihailovic were on target in a 1-1 tie.

New York is in the hunt for a playoff spot, currently sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference table. The side from the Big Apple has taken 27 points from 21 games after seven wins, six draws, and eight defeats.

Since back-to-back wins against Columbus Crew and Chicago Fire, City is without an MLS victory in four (two draws, two defeats).

Last weekend, New York picked up a point in Greater Boston, drawing 1-1 with New England at Gillette Stadium. Pascal Jansen’s team is eager to regain its winning form.

New York has had Toronto’s number recently, winning five of the past six meetings. The Canadians last beat the Pigeons in April 2023.
