CF Montreal Suffers Another Damaging Defeat to Slip to the Bottom

Having crashed to an embarrassing 7-1 loss at Inter Miami last weekend, CF Montreal was beaten again on Saturday.

The 2-0 defeat to Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park was Impact’s 12th league reverse of the 2026 MLS season. Can the Canadians respond when Charlotte visits Saputo Stadium on Wednesday?

Impact Goes Bottom of East

With Columbus Crew beating Colorado Rapids, the 2-0 loss in Philly saw Montreal fall to the foot of the Eastern Conference table.

Interim boss Philippe Eullaffroy is enduring a tough time at Saputo Stadium, and his boys were easily beaten by Philadelphia. The head coach did not get the response he demanded after the humbling 7-1 loss in Miami.

After a goalless first period, Union netted two goals in the second half to claim a comfortable 2-0 victory. Danley Jean Jacques opened the scoring in the 57th minute, with Cavan Sullivan adding a second 15 minutes from time.

Montreal has only picked up one MLS win since May. Having won 2-1 at Columbus, Eullaffroy’s troops have taken just one point from their following three games. Overall, Montreal has won five, tied six, and lost 12 of 23 MLS games.

Charlotte Up Next

Things could get a lot tougher for Montreal when in-form Charlotte visits Quebec in midweek MLS action. Dean Smith’s men are unbeaten in five, winning three and drawing two.

The North Carolina club is sitting nicely in fifth position in the current Eastern Conference standings. Charlotte has picked up ten wins and has suffered just one MLS loss in ten.

Montreal has not won in front of its home crowd since a 2-0 triumph over Orlando City in early May. The pressure is ramping up after conceding nine goals and losing the last two, but can the Canadians bounce back with a positive result in midweek?
