This weekend in MLS, Vancouver Whitecaps FC welcomes Los Angeles FC to BC Place. The pair are the current top two in the Western Conference, with the Caps only ahead on goal difference.

This mouth-watering matchup in British Columbia is arguably the standout game of the MLS weekend. The winner will be riding high at the top of the Western standings.

Whitecaps Looking for First Win in Three

Jesper Sorensen’s side is enjoying an excellent 2026 MLS season. The Blue-and-White leads the way in the Western Conference, winning ten and scoring 37 goals.

However, since returning from the 2026 FIFA World Cup break, Vancouver has yet to find its rhythm. After a 4-3 away loss at FC Cincinnati, the Caps were held to a 0-0 draw by Minnesota United FC last time out.

LAFC Gunning for Fifth Consecutive MLS Victory

Los Angeles is heaping pressure on the league leaders after a four-game winning streak. LAFC signed off for the international break with a 1-0 home victory over Seattle Sounders FC.

Marc Dos Santos’ boys have been on fire since returning from the World Cup pause, claiming successive triumphs over LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, and Sporting Kansas City, scoring ten goals along the way.

Recent Head-to-Head Record

The two evenly matched teams met three times in the 2025 MLS season, with two games ending in thrilling 2-2 draws. The other one was a narrow 1-0 away win for the Caps.

Los Angeles’ last victory in this fixture came in the 2024 MLS Cup playoffs. A win this weekend will see the Californian club leapfrog its opponent in the table.

This promises to be an entertaining matchup between two of the current best teams in MLS. The home side is the slight favourite, but LAFC is more than capable of leaving Canada with all three points.
