Can Vancouver Whitecaps FC End Regular Season on a High?

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is gearing up for the MLS playoffs, but Jesper Sorensen’s side still has three regular-season games to play.
The Caps are looking to get back to winning ways in MLS when San Diego FC visits BC Place on Wednesday night.
Narrow Defeat in Denver
Vancouver’s three-game undefeated streak was ended by the Colorado Rapids last weekend. It was a tight fixture at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, with Morgan Whittaker’s late goal giving the Rapids a 1-0 win.
The Caps have been in patchy form since MLS returned from the 2026 FIFA World Cup break, with six of their eight defeats coming after the pause.
Back-to-Back Home Games
Vancouver secured a playoff spot weeks ago, but it still has three regular-season fixtures to play. The Village can now concentrate on back-to-back MLS home matches.
In midweek, Sorensen’s troops welcome San Diego to BC Place. Vancouver then takes on Seattle Sounders FC in British Columbia this weekend. On the final day of the 2026 MLS season, the Caps face Canadian rivals CF Montreal in Quebec.
Can the Caps Finish First in the Western Conference?
Vancouver leads the Western Conference with 55 points from 16 wins, seven draws, and eight defeats. The Canadian side are a point above FC Dallas and four points ahead of third-place St. Louis City FC as we enter the final three matches.
Vancouver finished second last term, level on points with San Diego, who picked up just one more win. They went on to beat Dallas, Los Angeles FC, and San Diego but lost to Inter Miami CF in the MLS Cup final.
The Caps would love to go one step further this year and win the MLS Cup. But first, can they win the MLS Western Conference Championship?
