Later today, Toronto FC takes on Columbus Crew at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Ohio. With the MLS playoffs approaching, can the Reds pick up a huge three points?

After two wins and a draw from the last three, the Canadians are desperate to keep up their good form and return to Ontario with all three points.

Playoffs a Realistic Possibility

Toronto’s playoff hopes were dealt a huge blow when Robin Fraser’s men lost to Orlando City SC two weeks ago. It was the Reds’ third straight MLS defeat, and a top-nine spot in the Eastern Conference was slipping away

However, having taken seven points from the next three, the playoff push is back on. Toronto starts the day in tenth, level on points with ninth-place New York Red Bulls.

The derby victory over CF Montreal turned the tide, and Toronto followed that up with a battling 3-3 home draw with Orlando.

Toronto kept up its upswing in results with an impressive 2-0 win over the Red Bulls last weekend. A Justin Che own goal after three minutes sent Fraser’s troops on their way to three points, and Daniel Salloi’s late effort confirmed the result.

Huge Few Weeks Ahead

With four games of the regular season left, there is everything to play for in the MLS playoff race. Columbus is just a point behind in 11th in the Eastern Conference, making it another huge MLS fixture.

After today’s matchup in Ohio, the Reds take on DC United at BMO Field, which will be their last home fixture of the regular season. Toronto finishes the regular schedule with away games at Atlanta United and Philadelphia Union.

A playoff spot will be in their hands if Fraser’s men can pick up maximum points in Columbus. Finishing in the top nine will not be easy, but Toronto will keep fighting until the final whistle.
