Can Toronto End Long Winless Streak in the US Capital?

Toronto FC is searching for its first MLS victory since edging past Colorado Rapids in April. This weekend, Robin Fraser’s side travel to the capital of the United States to face DC United at Audi Field.

The Reds returned from the 2026 FIFA World Cup break with a battling tie with New England Revolution, but can Fraser’s troops finally end their winless run this weekend?

No MLS Success Since Early April

After the midweek draw in Greater Boston, Toronto is now winless in ten MLS fixtures. A long time has passed since the stunning comeback victory over Colorado Rapids in April, with the Canadians dropping down to 12th in the Eastern Conference standings after a bad spell.

Toronto returned from the World Cup break with a solid draw with New England, the side’s second successive 0-0 tie. Before the break, the 401 Derby with rivals FC Montreal at Saputo Stadium also ended scoreless.

Thankfully, the Reds have managed to halt their losing streak. Before the stalemate with Montreal, Toronto had suffered consecutive losses to Inter Miami CF, Charlotte FC, and Chicago Fire FC.

Having slipped down the MLS standings, the Canadian club is desperate to bounce back with a win as quickly as possible.

Big Game in Washington, D.C.

On Saturday, Toronto travels to the American capital to play DC United. The Reds are searching for their first MLS away victory since winning 1-0 at FC Cincinnati way back on March 8th.

DC United is also on a poor run right now, failing to win in five MLS games. Since mid-March, Black-and-Red has only won twice in the league, drawing four and losing one of the past five. Rene Weiler’s men are also desperate to end a winless run.

Both teams will be gunning for all three points from this one. Naturally, United will be favourites on home soil, but can Toronto upset its host at Audi Field?
