A quick look at the Ontario iGaming market

To set the context for this TonyBet Ontario review, we’d like to offer you a quick look on how the Ontario market works. Before Ontario’s regulated open-market framework launched in April 2022, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) was the only legal iGaming site in the province. It is regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and has an agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO). In August 2021, the OLG launched a sportsbook called Proline +, which still offers sports betting services.

Since April 2022, privately operated betting sites that are registered with the AGCO and have entered an agreement with the iGO may offer Ontarians legal online betting services. TonyBet is one such site operating in Ontario. Let’s look at how it works.

How Tonybet sportsbook Ontario works

TonyBet secured its Ontario gaming license before the end of 2022 and has been part of the Ontario iGaming market ever since. Its sportsbook covers 30+ sports categories, including basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, futsal, baseball, football, tennis, cricket, and table tennis. If you’re into esports, you’ll have access to several titles to bet on, such as Call of Duty, Rainbow Six, Dota 2, King of Glory, and esoccer. We also found several niche markets like Gaelic Hurling, ski jumping, and darts.

One of the most impressive things we discovered about TonyBet is the number of betting markets available for each sports event it covers. The site offers bettors up to several sports events to bet on each day, including up to 100+ markets on hockey, tennis, football, soccer, and basketball.

We found all the popular bet types available at the site. You’d be able to place pre-match bets on everything from totals, match winners, spreads, futures, props, and handicaps. TonyBet also features many live bets (we found 62 live events at the time of writing) and even has a dedicated page for them. Based on the live betting coverage (basketball, tennis, eSports, and hockey), TonyBet is easily one of the top live betting Ontario sites.

There’s a beginner-friendly Bet Builder feature that lets new, casual, and seasoned bettors easily create parlays. We also like how competitive the site’s odds are compared to other sportsbooks. Better still, you’ll get boosted odds on designated sports. There’s also a cash-out feature for specific markets and games, allowing you to manage your wagers better.

What our TonyBet sportsbook Ontario review tests revealed

To provide a detailed description of how TonyBet’s sportsbook actually works in Ontario, we ran several hands-on tests of its features. Here’s what our tests revealed:

The website was designed with new bettors in mind

Some betting sites can take a while to get used to because of cluttered layouts and confusing navigation. That’s not the case with TonyBet. The bookmaker has a clean, intuitive interface that makes finding sports, markets, and account features straightforward. Whether you're new to sports betting or an experienced bettor, you should have no trouble getting around the site.

The design isn’t exactly minimalist, but it gets a lot of things right. To the left is a column listing the available sports categories. The column next to it also lists all the Live and Top Events, and there’s a toggle that lets you switch between them. There’s also a search feature that lets you find sports events much faster. The available boosted odds are displayed on the banners at the top of the homepage, and there’s a chat icon at the bottom of the screen that links to the live chat team.

We like that the bookmaker offers you the latest detailed team statistics for each game. The available odds are easy to customize, and you can bookmark your favourite teams. We also like how the website manages to offer the amount of betting options and information that’s on the homepage without sacrificing its ease of use. Our tests revealed that pages load really fast when you click any link or tab on the site. Using the betslip was particularly impressive, as we never experienced any lag.

You’ll have fun with the TonyBet Ontario app

Although the sportsbook’s website offers great ease of use, we’d rate the app as even better in that regard. The app is free to download on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, and it’s compatible with the latest iOS and Android devices.

Its layout is a lot more minimalist than the website’s, and you’d still get to place bets on all the major sports categories and professional leagues, just as on the website. You’ll also have access to an extensive collection of pre-match and live betting markets just as you would on a PC.

There’s a “Favourites” tab (just like on the website) that allows you to bookmark your favourite sports events and leagues. You’ll also find the available sports are displayed as icons just under the “Events” and “Sports” tabs. The bottom menu also features tabs that offer quick access to different sections of the sportsbook. You’ll also get real-time updates of stats, odds, and live scores. Plus, you’ll enjoy fast, secure transactions and access to email support via the app. In our opinion, it’s on par with several of the Alberta betting apps that are expected to become available from July 13, 2026.

The only downside of the app is that it requires a significant amount of storage (102 MB on iOS devices; 100 MB on Android devices). Thankfully, you can still use the sportsbook on the go via your mobile browser.

There are lots of secure and convenient payment options available

TonyBet supports several reliable payment methods for both deposits and withdrawals. We also observed that these payment methods support CAD, so you won’t need to bother with currency conversions. Some of the more popular payment methods Ontarians can use at TonyBet include Mastercard, Visa, MuchBetter, Interac–Direct Credit, Credorax, LuxonPay, Mifinity, and PayPer.

Deposits are mostly instant, and your deposits are credited to your account balance after you’ve completed the deposit process. Note that the site’s minimum deposit is 10 CAD, but payment providers may cap the maximum deposit.

Withdrawals often take longer than deposits at TonyBet, especially if it’s your first withdrawal at the site. That’s because you’d be required to complete an additional verification process. However, once your first withdrawal request goes through, subsequent withdrawals are often faster. Depending on your preferred payment method, withdrawals may take anywhere from a few hours to 5 business days. There are also limits on the amounts that you can withdraw. The minimum withdrawal amount is 10 CAD. You can’t withdraw more than 4,000 CAD daily, 15,000 CAD weekly, and 50,000 CAD monthly.

Players get 24/7 support

Similar to some soon-to-launch Alberta betting sites, we like the number of support channels available at TonyBet. You’d be able to get support on the site via on-site tickets, email, and live chat. The best part is that support is available round the clock.

Based on our tests, we recommend the live chat option for two reasons. First, it's easy to access from the homepage. All you’d have to do is tap the chat icon near the bottom of the screen. Second, the live chat response time is the fastest among the three options. When we tested this option, you’d get a response within minutes.

The on-site ticket and email support work alike and are relatively fast, with responses within 24 hours of submitting a ticket or email to the support team. There’s also an FAQ section that covers topics such as payments, account management, and betting options.

TonyBet’s sportsbook is as legit as it gets

As we already mentioned earlier when we described how online gambling works in Ontario, TonyBet is one of the legit sites operating in the province. It is operated by Ligtip Limited, which is registered with the AGCO and has an agreement with iGaming Ontario.

Just like many of the new Ontario betting sites we’ve reviewed, TonyBet also uses SSL encryption tech to protect your personal and financial data. It also offers two-factor authentication (2FA) as an added layer of security and has strict Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols for its bettors. TonyBet also collaborates with BetGuard, a centralized self-exclusion tool that lets you take a break whenever you want.

Besides the BetGuard tool, the site features other responsible gaming tools that could help you manage your betting experience better at the site. Some of the tools we found at the site include deposit limits, loss limits, time-out, and session limits.

Conclusion – Using TonyBet Sportsbook Ontario is a great idea

We like how easy the website is to use on desktop, especially for new bettors. The site also features a fluid native app that’s compatible with iOS and Android devices, as well as being fully optimized for mobile browsers.

Another thing we like about the bookmaker is the number of betting markets available. It covers 30+ sports and offers tens of betting lines for each. You’ll also have access to all the popular bet types, including live bets. There are 10 reputable payment options (cards, e-wallets, and bank transfers) to pick from, and you’d have access to 24/7 customer support.
