Is Caesars legal in Alberta?
Before we jump into this review, let’s answer the question that’s on everyone’s mind: is this sportsbook legal in Alberta? And the answer is yes.
In the spring of 2025, the government passed the Alberta iGaming Act, which cleared the way for Alberta to create the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) to manage the iGaming market alongside the AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis) commission, which provides regulatory oversight.
This means that as of July 13, 2026, iGaming sites can move from “grey market” status in Alberta to being fully licensed and regulated – and that is exactly what is happening with Caesars Sportsbook. This sportsbook is not only legal; the AGLC licensing offers strong player protections to Albertans.
With that question answered, let’s jump into the heart of our Caesars Sportsbook review…
Reviewing the sportsbook experience
The first thing you’ll notice is that this is a clean, polished sportsbook with a professional feel that’s befitting of its reputation. While there is a lot going on inside this sportsbook, it's arranged in a way that doesn’t feel cluttered. The top of the screen has links to settings, your account, support, responsible gaming tools, and the casino.
The left side lists the main sports categories, and the center of your screen tends to show which sporting events are currently popular. We appreciated the “settings” tab that lets you pick your preferred odds format, as well as whether you want a light or dark theme on the website.
When it comes to sports coverage, you’ll find that this brand is likely to have what you're looking for. All the major sports are represented here, plus you’ll find niche sports such as darts, snooker, lacrosse, and many more.
While the coverage is quite impressive, it doesn’t reach the levels of some of its major competitors, such as you might read about in our DraftKings sportsbook review. For example, Caesars doesn’t offer eSports betting. Nonetheless, if your betting habits tend to be fairly mainstream, then Caesars will be a good fit for you.
What types of betting and odds are available?
You’ll find a wide assortment of betting options on this platform. Naturally, you’ll get the main options such as moneyline bets, spreads, over/under totals, and so on. There are also plenty of player props, especially for the most popular events. You can find futures for both team events and individual players. You’ll also find events such as which player will win an award. And of course there is live betting available for popular events.
As far as odds go – we did some comparison shopping and found that the odds are competitive with similar sportsbooks, especially for parlays and in-play betting. There are sharper sportsbooks available, so it’s a good idea to shop the lines on some of the smaller sportsbooks before placing your bets, especially for less popular sporting events.
However, if you’re placing bets on something like the NHL events or local Canadian sporting events, Caesars is going to have good odds and deep betting menus.
Does this brand have a mobile app?
Yes, and here too you’ll find the Caesars app to be polished and professional for both the iOS and Android versions. The design and layout makes it easy to find whatever you need, and you can get to most anything within just a tap or two from the main screen. We found the overall performance to be good too, as it loaded fast when it mattered, such as when we were placing live bets.
It’s not just our opinion that this is a good app – it gets a rating of 4.7/5 and 4.6/5 in the Apple store and Google Play store, respectively.
Now before you can start placing bets, you’ll need to make a deposit. Which brings us to the next part of our review…
Review of Caesars Sportsbook payment options
When it comes to making a deposit at this sportsbook, you have a wide variety of options, including:
- Visa, Mastercard, and Interac debit cards
- Visa and Mastercard credit cards
- eCheck / ACH / online banking
- PayPal
- Apple Pay
- Venmo
- Interac e-transfer
- PayNearMe
- Caesars Sportsbook Play+ card
The sportsbook does state that not all of these options may be available to you, as it depends on your financial institution (i.e., not all financial institutions allow gambling transactions).
All of these deposit options will hit your player account instantly, although in the case of some of the slower methods – such as ACH – the transaction may take one to three days to complete with the funds being withdrawn from your bank account. These options are similar to what you may have read about in our bet365 sportsbook review.
NOTE: some of these methods may incur fees. If there is a fee, you’ll be alerted before you complete the transaction.
What withdrawal options are available?
You’ll have similar options when you withdraw from this sportsbook. Take note that the length of time it takes for the funds to reach you will depend on your withdrawal method. Here’s an overview, along with the estimated time it takes to reach your account after the withdrawal has been approved:
- Debit card: posts as little as one hour.
- eCheck / VIP preferred / ACH: Takes two or three business days.
- Online banking: Money transfers within the hour using Trustly.
- Venmo and PayPal: Usually posts the same day.
- Interac: Posts in as little as an hour.
- Caesars Sportsbook Play+ Card: Usually posts the same day.
There are no fees for withdrawing, and for most payment methods the minimum withdrawal is $1. Our opinion is that this is a fast and reliable sportsbook, with more options than some of the competitors.
Now for another important aspect of our Caesars sportsbook review…
What type of customer service experience can you expect?
As you might expect with a sportsbook brand of this calibre, the customer service here is top notch.
For starters, there is plenty of self-help documentation that you can access by clicking on the “Support” dropdown menu, and then going to “Online Help.” There you’ll find around a dozen main help categories such as “Payments,” “Getting Started” and many more. Alternatively, you can search for what you need. This documentation is fairly detailed, so it should answer most of your basic questions.
If you run into an issue where you need human help, you’ll again go to the “Support” dropdown tab, and you’ll have the option of using a contact form for email support, or you can tap the 24/7 “Live Support” option to open an online chat. We used the live chat option, which requires you to be logged in or you’ll need to provide some information. Once that’s complete, you can ask your question and get directed to a customer service agent. We only had to wait about five minutes before a helpful and friendly agent came online and cheerfully answered our questions.
Overall, we had a great experience, and it provided a lot of peace of mind that this brand prioritizes providing human help rather than sending you to bots that pretend to be human. About the only way this experience could be improved is they also offered a 24/7 phone option – but that’s certainly not a dealbreaker for us, as we’d rather chat online anyway.
Caesars licensing and security: is this sportsbook safe?
As you discovered at the top of this review, this sportsbook is licensed and regulated by the ALGC, so Albertans can join this platform with confidence. Some of the highlights of this licensing include:
- The sportsbook advertising cannot target minors.
- Professional athletes can’t be used to promote the sportsbook.
- System-wide exclusion measures are in place.
- Players can use financial and time-based tools to limit their activity.
- The sportsbook must ensure players’ funds are secure.
- Gaming activity must be verifiably fair.
- Formal dispute resolution measures are in place.
In addition to this strong regulatory oversight, the website itself is secure. It carries a valid security certificate and uses advanced-level encryption to keep all players’ data safe. In addition, its third-party providers, such as payment gateways, are also secure and reputable.
The bottom line here is that this is a world-renowned brand that has additional player protections in place via the ALGC, so you can join and bet with confidence. This is similar to other sportsbooks that are being regulated by the ALGC, which you may have read about in our FanDuel sportsbook review.
Wrapping up our review of Caesars Sportsbook for Alberta residents…
We went into this review with high expectations because of Caesars impeccable brand, and we were not disappointed. It’s everything you expect in a sportsbook – competitive lines for major events, a plethora of sports covered, and decent betting menus. Sure, there are sharper sportsbooks, but this one should definitely be on your list when you’re shopping lines, as you may find a few surprises.
Plus, using this sportsbook comes with the peace of mind in knowing that you’ll have a good customer service experience, as well as fast and reliable withdrawals.
