Several Ohio bars, restaurants, and casinos are preparing for the January 1 sports betting launch. At 12:01 a.m. on New Year’s Day, the first sports bets can be placed. With this, local businesses have already begun setting the stage for the Ohio sports betting launch. The countdown to the big day is ongoing.
Ohio Sportsbooks Setting The Stage
In Austintown, the Ice House Inn is hosting a New Year’s Eve Party where several guests will be in attendance. The Inn is home to sports betting kiosks prepared to go live at midnight on New Year’s Day. There is a total of 45 bars and restaurants in the Austintown area hosting betting kiosks.
“Our machines have been tested,” said Kevin Brogan, Hollywood Gaming’s marketing director The Ohio Casino Control Commission has signed off. “The Ohio Lottery Commission’s been involved. At 12:01 a.m., we fire it up and we’re going to start taking bets.”
Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course is also in the area and has plans to go live at 12:01 a.m. The retail gaming locale aims to be a fixture for sports betting in the area. Their sportsbook lounge area is currently covered with artificial football field turf in anticipation of the first NFL bets to be placed.
“This is going to be the place to watch sports and bet in Mahoning County,” continued Brogan.
