The NBA trade deadline is now a month away and rumors are sure to get hotter once we get past the March 7 NBA All-Star Game. Bradley Beal trade rumors have been floated since the season began in late December, but all indications have been that Beal wants to remain in D.C.. The Wizards have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past few weeks – having won six of their last seven games – adding to the likelihood that Washington GM Tommy Sheppard will stand pat.
That said, a lot can happen over the course of a month in the NBA. The Wizards are still not in the East playoff picture despite the recent hot streak, and a bad week or two would put them right back among the conference’s dregs.
In addition, New York Knicks executive William Wesley (aka Worldwide Wes) is said to have been urging “Beal’s people” to request a trade out of Washington.
“ESPN radio host Michael Kay, who works for the station that broadcasts Knicks games, cited a ‘very good source’ while dropping news on his show last week,” wrote Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “The Knicks have Worldwide Wes on their side, and he’s been in the ear of some of Beal’s people and he’s kind of nudging them that this might be the time to push for a trade.”
Teams most likely to make trades, big or small, over the next month include the Denver Nuggets, the Knicks and the Boston Celtics.
The Nuggets and Celtics have been consistently mentioned as wanting to be aggressive at the trade deadline due to the fact that both front offices believe they are close to having championship caliber rosters. Denver and Boston have also been among the league’s most disappointing teams so far this season and are in search of a spark to turn their respective campaigns around.
New York is at the opposite end of the spectrum, as it has been one of the NBA’s surprise teams in 2020-21. The Knicks have picks and young players to offer in a deal, and are looking to make a playoff push this season.

Bradley Beal trade rumors: Nuggets
The Nuggets have something of a trump card when it comes to a potential Beal trade. Michael Porter Jr. remains one of the more intriguing young players in the NBA. Porter, who would have likely been one of the top 3 picks in the 2018 NBA Draft had it not been for an injury-riddled freshman year at Missouri, has proven to be a dynamic scorer in the league at just 22 years of age.
Porter Jr. is the top trade chip among teams said to have interest in Beal.
Were the Nuggets to complete a trade for Beal before the late March deadline, expect their title odds to improve to around +700. For context, the Milwaukee Bucks currently have the fourth lowest odds to win it all at FanDuel Sportsbook at +700.
Bradley Beal trade rumors: Celtics
This one made a little more sense a few months back before Jaylen Brown’s ascension. The Celtics have no intention of trading Jayson Tatum or Brown anytime soon. Boston could offer up Kemba Walker in a package to help match salary, but Washington would have little use for the banged-up guard at this point. The Celtics have some intriguing young players on their roster like Payton Pritchard, Robert Williams and Aaron Nesmith. But none of them move the needle in a potential swap for Beal.
The Celtics simply lack a centerpiece chip to make a move this big but if they were to somehow shoehorn Beal out of Washington without giving up Tatum or Brown, their futures odds would likely jump from +2500 to +500.
Bradley Beal trade rumors: Knicks
The Knicks finally seem to be headed in the right direction. They are an overachieving team at the moment, and have a boatload of assets to throw at teams to complete a trade for a superstar player.
“They’re going to be in the mix when a star becomes available,” a source familiar with the Knicks recently told the New York Daily News. “That’s been the plan.”
The thinking in New York is to acquire one superstar via trade. That player could then lure another big-time in free agency, as the Knicks are currently well under the cap.
New York is obviously an extreme longshot to win the title this year, with odds of +25000 at DraftKings Sportsbook. But if they were to land Beal this season, they would likely be in the range of +5000 to +6000 (where the Mavericks, Raptors and Trail Blazers currently reside).
