March Madness odds: Indiana vs. Ohio state win-and-in?
The Hoosiers failed to cover the point spread in Tuesday's loss at Oregon, but their bracketology odds for the NCAA tourney improved slightly from this past weekend. Per the table above, they showcase a 68.9% implied probability of earning an at-large bid. If Mike Woodson's squad sweeps the Buckeyes in their ensuing rematch at Assembly Hall, it could stamp its ticket into the Big Dance as early as Saturday.
Since Feb. 11, Anthony Leal and Co. have ranked sixth among Big Ten teams in adjusted defensive efficiency (AdjD). In fact, Leal, who recently accrued a plus-26 and a minus-10 in the minutes he rested at Washington, is a clear-cut candidate to take home the conference's award for defensive player of the year.
During this stretch, they haven't received much fortune regarding their net 3-point clip—a telling sign of whether teams have improved or are just lucky.
Buckeyes' NCAA Tournament Chances
Ohio State's -185 price equals a 64.9% implied probability following its double-overtime win versus Nebraska. If the Buckeyes fail to earn revenge against Indiana from their initial bout, in which budding sophomore Devin Royal didn't suit up, their March Madness hopes shouldn't take a big hit.
Unc odds: Saturday's high-stake rematch vs. Duke
While the Tar Heels are riding a six-game winning streak, bettors will soon discover what's fact versus fiction against the arch-rival Blue Devils. Unlike Duke, none of these foes haven't presented much resistance, settling outside the top 75 in AdjD.
In their first go-around, UNC produced 1.75 points per possession (PPP) in transition but only eight fast-break shots. For the Tar Heels' -114 bracketology odds (53.3% implied probability) to shoot up considerably, they must take advantage of a ruckus environment at the Dean Dome and dictate the tempo.
