Boston Celtics NBA Title Odds Shift
Throughout the 2022 NBA Finals, the Celtics were plagued by miscues. Not only did forward Jayson Tatum become the first player in playoff history with 100 total turnovers, but Boston also generated the 21st-most team turnovers in a single finals (97 of them, to be exact).
Nevertheless, Brad Stevens, the Celtics head coach-turned-president of basketball operations, struck gold with the addition of Brogdon. As a result, Boston became the favorite to win the 2023 championship at FanDuel Sportsbook (+500).
Below is where the Celtics NBA title odds stand at FanDuel, BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook, respectively. Here is the rest of the NBA championship odds board too.
Assessing Celtics NBA Title Odds with Brogdon
During Brogdon’s three-year run in Indiana, he notched 18.9 points, 6.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. He could take over as Boston’s sixth man, but he may serve as the team’s primary facilitator if veteran big man Al Horford moves to the bench.
Although the Celtics would’ve remained in the championship hunt without Brogdon, he addresses a major need despite his recent injury history. They weren’t forced to trade any key assets either, only parting ways with their 2023 first-round pick, Nik Stauskas, Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Malik Fitts and Juwan Morgan.
Tacking on Gallinari is an underrated get as well, providing much-needed floor-spacing off the bench.
Meanwhile, ex-Boston point guard Kyrie Irving has forced sportsbooks to generate a betting market around his next landing spot. The Lakers are the odds on favorite (-125) to acquire Irving’s services.
