The Big West men’s basketball tournament tips off Tuesday in Henderson, Nevada. Sportsbooks released odds to win the conference tourney, headlined by UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. Tournament Notes
UC Irvine earned the top seed in the conference after going 15-5 in league play. The Anteaters dropped two of their final four Big West games to UC San Diego and Hawaii, but started the year off with a bang by upending Oregon. At +220, the Anteaters have a 31.3% implied probability of winning the Big West tournament odds while awaiting the winner of CSU Bakersfield and CSU Northside.
Not far behind stands UC Santa Barbara (), who finished with a better overall record (24-7), but fall to the two seed on tiebreakers. The Gouchos finished the year strong on a four-game win streak and await the winner of Long Beach State (11-9 Big West) and Cal Poly (1-18). Ajay Mitchell is one of the tournament’s top players, scoring 15.7 points per game, dishing out 5.1 assists, and shooting 82.2% from the charity stripe.
Five teams cluster together between 5-1 and 11-1 at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the final three teams bringing up the rear. Of the group, CSU Fullerton () has the most confidence of the sportsbooks while UC Riverside () has the most variance.
It’s a tightly-contested field as seven of the 10 teams won at least 11 games in-conference.
