Big East Conference Tournament Odds
Tournament Notes
Per the odds table above, the best price on UConn is despite Marquette sitting at the top of the bracket. The Huskies odds are good for a 32.26% implied probability. The program is seeking its first Big East tournament crown since 2011, which was before they initially left for the AAC.
For starters, the Huskies own the shortest odds in this market because of their overall power rating. Dan Hurley’s team own a top-15 ranking in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency, respectively. It started out 14-0, defeating Alabama and Iowa State in non-conference play, before dropping six of its next eight games. But UConn has responded — and then some — winning eight of its last nine contests.
The 6-foot-9 Adama Sanogo leads the way as a two-way threat, manufacturing 16.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore two-guard Jordan Hawkins may be the key to the Huskies making a deep run in this tournament, though, as his off-ball action in Hurley’s motion attack allows for quality perimeter looks.
Creighton () is next up on the odds board. The Bluejays are surprisingly led by their defense, delivering the first top-10 rating at that end of the court in Greg McDermott’s tenure. They’ll likely face a veteran Villanova team in the quarterfinals. Mind you, the Wildcats tallied a 12-point home victory against them on Feb. 25. Hence, Marquette () and Xavier () face the least strenuous path to the semifinals among the top-four seeds.
