BetMGM Breaks Down New Features On Its Sportsbook App

BetMGM has updated its mobile sportsbook app bringing with it new features that change the way bettors play. Lead product developer Kamal Grey spoke with TheLines.com and gave us an exclusive look at the new app. The stand-out new features on BetMGM Sportsbook are the Same Game Parlay+ and seamless travel features. The New Look BetMGM

Grey describes the updates to BetMGM as a project is was years in the making. The product team was looking to improve the user experience.

“We started a journey….starting a few years ago trying to take big strides in the user experience and quality of the BetMGM product,” said Kamal Grey, BetMGM Product Lead. “And we did some work last year to launch a redesign right ahead of the football season where we set a better foundation.”

One of the goals was a focus on user decision-making. The BetMGM team was looking to create an experience where patrons could easily find all the betting options they would need. Bettors will be guided to wagers in a way that hastens the betting experience.

“This year our investment started to lean into how can we ultimately help customers make decisions when they’re trying to make a bet,” continued Grey. “Help them find a pathway to their bets, and leaning on the live experience through the lens of our event detail page, which is where customers can find all the markets and live markets around a specific event.”

How The Event Page Changes Everything

The BetMGM mobile app is also getting a new look event page. Here, bettors will have access to all the latest and biggest games. Additionally, the update has completely changed the navigation process, making it easier for fans.

“A lot of the changes we made here were willing to display our information architecture and make it clearer the teams we are playing and introducing records,” said Grey. “Introduce a clearer navigation that was in line with the rest of the products where customers can path to the market that they’re interested in….customers can find markets that are exclusive to BetMGM.”

This also affects live betting, giving users all the information they will need to make a quick decision. With live odds moving quickly, this feature is extremely beneficial.

“In the live game, we wanted to make sure that all the data that was shown at the top of the screen was instructive to the customer when they’re looking below to what market to bet on.”

How Does The Seamless Travel Work?

Looking at one of the stand-out new features, the seamless travel between markets, we were curious about the logistics.

How does it work? What happens if there are betting lines available in one market but not allowed in another? What if bettors wager in a market where a betting line is legal, but then travel to another market where it is not? Would bettors have to wait to return to the original market to settle the wager? Kamal Grey explains how it all works.

“It will still be settled in the background automatically,” explained Grey. “If they place it in another state they can still navigate to that state in the app and see their bet slip. We still indicate what state you are in and the version of the app that you’re in on the upper left….I’m in New Jersey right now even though I am physically located in New York.”

Additionally, the Same Game Parlay+ feature allows for multiple same-game parlays to be placed on a single ticket. This gives bettors more winning potential with extremely long odds at their disposal. The new look BetMGM mobile app is looking to shake things up in the sports betting world.
