Puerto Rico Launches First Sportsbook App With BetMGM

The Puerto Rico legal sports betting industry has officially kicked off with BetMGM becoming the first mobile betting app to launch. This launch is in partnership with BetMGM and Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort. Fans can download the app and begin wagering on the island. Puerto Rico has officially entered the American sports wagering arena.
BetMGM Welcomes Puerto Rico To Sports Betting
This marks only the second market outside of the U.S. mainland to see the BetMGM mobile sportsbook live. Puerto Rico players will have access to the full slate of betting odds and lines available at the popular sportsbook.
“BetMGM is ecstatic to become the first operator to deliver mobile sports betting to Puerto Rico,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO. “This great collaboration between local officials and Casino del Mar provides a safe, responsible and entertaining product accessible from anywhere on the island.”
BetMGM is promising local residents a user-friendly experience with the “ability to customize pre-game, live in-play, futures and parlay wagers.” In addition, BetMGM fans are able to sync their sportsbook accounts with the retail location at Casino del Mar. The retail location is a $3.5 million sports lounge that opened in December 2022.
“Today, Puerto Rico is once again at the forefront of the sports betting industry,” said Sigfrido De Jesús, General Manager of Casino del Mar. “In addition to being an attraction for sports fans, this will have a positive impact on the revenues of the Treasury. We are pioneers in the sports wagering industry, and we are elevating sports to the next level by developing trustworthy and user-friendly technology tools. Creating this technological alliance with a company of BetMGM’s caliber has allowed both Casino del Mar and the government to learn about innovation in the betting industry.”
Fans can access odds on all major sporting events across professional and collegiate teams. Puerto Rico regulations also permit odds on the Olympic games.
More Sportsbooks Incoming
BetMGM may have kicked started the only sports betting industry, but it won’t be the last operator to launch. Puerto Rico has approved sports betting licenses to Caesars Sportsbook and DraftKings.
Caesars has already launched a retail sportsbook at Casino Metro with the app coming in conjunction with that deal. DraftKings partnered with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to launch a sportsbook at the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino and its mobile app.
Puerto Rico will soon be home to several mobile and retail sportsbooks across the island. Now is an exciting time for sports bettors on the Island of Enchantment.
