The second night of NBA Play-In Tournament action brings with it the first round of elimination games for postseason teams.
In the East, the No. 9 seed Raptors and No. 10 seed Chicago Bulls meet in Toronto at 7:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN. Later in the Western Conference, the No. 9 seed Pelicans host the No. 10 seed Thunder at 9:30 p.m. EDT, also on ESPN. Both games are hovering around the same five-point spread in favor of the No. 9 seeds.
In the Eastern Conference matchup, the Raptors and Bulls met three different times this season, with the home team walking away victorious each time. The winner of this game will head to Miami for a date with the Heat, who lost their first Play-In game against the Hawks. The victor of that game goes on to play as the eighth seed while the loser goes home.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans took three of four from the Thunder when they met in the regular season. The winner will earn the right to take on the Timberwolves in Minnesota and a shot at the eighth seed in the Western Conference Playoffs.
Starting center Rudy Gobert missed the team’s game against the Lakers on Tuesday after he was suspended for throwing a punch at teammate Kyle Anderson during the team’s final regular season game on Sunday, April 9. His status for Friday’s game is still unclear.
After a travel day on Thursday, the final Play-In games takes place Friday, April 14.
The official NBA Playoffs tip off Saturday, April 15, with a four-game slate, followed by another four playoff games Sunday, April 16.
