BetMGM Becomes Third Sportsbook To Gain Kentucky Market Access

Another sportsbook operator is confirmed to be one of the mobile sportsbooks in Kentucky launching soon. Revolutionary Racing Kentucky (RRKY) has partnered with BetMGM, giving the operator market access. This will see a BetMGM Kentucky mobile app and retail location able to launch once retail sportsbooks open on Sept. 7 and online sportsbooks go live on Sept. 28. BetMGM joins Caesars Sportsbook and FanDuel as the only confirmed Kentucky Sportsbooks.
BetMGM Meets Revolution Racing
This partnership gives market access for both a BetMGM online and retail sportsbook to launch in the Bluegrass State. A retail location is slated to launch at Sandy’s Racing & Gaming. The popular sportsbook is expected to launch its mobile offering as soon as the market launches in September.
“Kentucky has a rich history in sports and a passionate fan base. Revolutionary Racing is an ideal partner, enabling us to deliver an entertaining and responsible gaming experience, while investing in the state through job creation and tax revenue,” said Adam Greenblatt, BetMGM CEO.
The retail sportsbook at Sandy’s Racing is already underway. This will be a $75 million gaming and entertainment facility in Ashland. Construction is slated to begin soon on 182 acres adjacent to Sandy’s with plans for a 5,200-square-foot locale. The venue will also be a first-quarter horse racetrack and equestrian center with races slated to begin in 2025.
“We promised to bring a world-class facility to Ashland and wanted a world-class partner for online sports wagering across the Commonwealth and at our sportsbook lounge,” said Prentice Salter, CEO of Revolutionary Racing. “We’ve got that with BetMGM.”
Kentucky Betting Market Taking Shape
With the confirmation of BetMGM Kentucky, fans can already begin to visualize what their betting market will look like. These three confirmed operators with more potential announcements are expected closer to the market launch.
Operators like DraftKings and Fanatics Sportsbook are confirmed to have spoken with the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. The commission is overseeing the sports betting market. It is likely that deals are being discussed behind the scenes with announcements pending.
Kentucky law allows for up to 30 mobile sportsbooks to launch. The market will be plentiful when it is in full fruition. Fans should prepare to see more sportsbooks confirmed before the market officially kicks off.
