First Touchdown Odds

To kick off the NFL Week 7 odds board, the 3-3 Broncos take on against the 2-4 Saints in Sean Payton’s homecoming to New Orleans. Denver is set as a Denver Broncos -2.5 (-122) on BetRivers favorite, and the total is lined at 37.5 (-120) on FanDuel. Below are bet365 Sportsbook odds for first touchdown scorers to use for the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Broncos and Saints.

Potential Picks for First Touchdown Odds

Broncos RB Javonte Williams: Javonte Williams +600 on Bet365

If you choose to handicap anytime touchdown odds for New Orleans, be my guest. Injuries have made it a tricky assessment.

In particular, I’ll stay away from Alvin Kamara’s high price tag — stationed at Alvin Kamara +375 on Bet365 — against the Broncos’ stingy defense.

Conversely, Williams faces the Saints’ banged-up defense, which is dead last in run-stop win rate. It’s also allowed the fourth-highest EPA per touch. New Orleans’ struggles stem from its inability to wrap up the opponent, tied for the ninth-most missed tackles across the NFL.

Granted, Williams hasn’t reached the end zone over the first six games for the second straight season. But even in a matchup with the lowest total on the betting board, the Saints are his easiest test yet, at least on paper. Behind Denver’s above-average offensive line, Williams will have an opportunity to snap this skid, especially if New Orleans’ poor tackling continues.

Broncos WR Devaughn Vele: Devaughn Vele +1800 on Bet365

While Bo Nix continues to perform inconsistently, his connection with Vele is visible. During Sunday’s loss to the Chargers, the rookie tallied 78 receiving yards via a 76% route participation and 62% snap rate in his return from a rib injury. He’s been on the shelf since Week 2.

With all but six of Vele’s receiving yards coming in the slot thus far, the Saints are in for another taxing matchup. Chris Godwin (109 of his 125 yards), Juju Smith-Schuster (63 of his 130), Jalen Tolbert (66 of his 82), and Adam Thielen (35 of his 49) are all examples of their scuffles in nickel coverage.

If you’re pizza money on Williams’ anytime touchdown odds, consider using some pocket change on Vele.

What Are first touchdown odds?

Like anytime touchdown odds, the first touchdown betting option has developed into one of the most popular player props across the sports betting industry.

Players are always stationed at plus-money odds. Given the exciting result for novice and hardcore pro football bettors, the hype with first TD odds isn’t surprising. Your wager will win if you bet on the first player to reach the end zone from a rushing, receiving, defensive, or special teams score. Passing TDs won’t count at NFL betting sites, including bet365.

If the player you bet on gets hurt during the game, don’t anticipate a refund on first touchdown odds. Just like any other bet, risk comes into play.
