Courtland Sutton was a victim in 2022 of the horrible Broncos passing game. Russell Wilson was as bad as we remember – 27th in Dropback EPA and 33rd in Success Rate. It was a disaster. Sutton also missed two games, playing only 15 games. And he still cruised over his 2023 Receiving Yards prop.
The Broncos have to be hoping that under Sean Payton, Russ can find something. Nobody is expecting peak Seattle Russ, but there’s a large gap between what Denver thought they were trading for and what Russ was in 2022. With Tim Patrick out for the year with an Achilles tear and KJ Hamler getting cut, a good chunk of targets in the Denver offense are now free, with some likely heading to Sutton.
