Browns Texans Anytime Touchdown Scorer Strategy
The last time these two teams played was just in Week 16. That game, Houston was without CJ Stroud, who missed the game with a concussion. A glance at the final score suggests the Texans lost a high-flying affair. However, they were completely stifled all game long until a couple of late scores once the Browns pulled their starters. Of course, Stroud injects a massive boost into the offense this weekend.
The point total is set at – not indicative of a shootout by any means – but playing this game indoors instills more confidence in the scoring units. How will Houston attack the NFL’s No. 1 defense this week after mostly unsuccessful attempts last time out? Where is the Browns’ defense slightly vulnerable?
Texans ATTD Scorer Bets Vs. Browns
WR Nico Collins ()
The Browns’ secondary is full of skilled defensive backs, but both wide corners are 6-foot and shorter. Their largest corner is sophomore Martin Emerson Jr. The 6-foot-2 Emerson hasn’t played poorly by any stretch this season, although he’s been tagged for nine penalties. Collins is the most skilled receiver in the corps and stands a healthy 6-foot-4. I’d expect Emerson to see a bit of Collins and Stroud to target him on late downs with hopes of either drawing a penalty against a physical DB or hitting a home run.
It’s a good formula for targeting the team touchdowns leader and one that’s scored in two of his last three outings (including Week 16 against the Browns without his QB).
FB Andrew Beck ()
One of the best ways to counter an aggressive defense around the goal line is with creative routes out of the backfield. Play action stretch runs with a fullback leak (either to the flats or up the seam) suck in linebackers, box safeties, and defensive ends, many of which are responsible for men out of the backfield. In the season’s final five games, Beck caught all six targets his way for two scores. I’d expect Houston to return to the sure-handed fullback at some point in this game, potentially in the passing game.
