Which games have a decent setup for NRFI odds, and which might be more attractive for YRFI bettors?
Dodgers At Phillies
Two great arms take the mound in this one, so it might be tempting to look at NRFI odds. Indeed, I'm pretty high on Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Jesus Luzardo. We know Yamamoto is great, and Luzardo has spurts of greatness when he's healthy.
However, it's important to remember how terrific these offenses are. Even without Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers might have the best offense in MLB. In fact, with a 121 wRC+, they also had the best offense in the league against lefties last year.
The Phillies are no slouches, either. Only the Yankees have outhit them so far this season.
According to the linked chart, with YRFI at a plus number, it's worth a look and a good play.
Rays At Rangers
Another interesting YRFI spot involves a pitcher returning from multiple years lost to injury. Tyler Mahle has only thrown 40 MLB innings dating to 2022. He had a shaky debut, going just 1.2 IP and handing out four free passes to the Red Sox.
It's not unreasonable to think he may not be back. He didn't have the best spring, with a 4.95 xFIP and a major issue with homers. The Rays have a good chance to jump on him early and cash YRFI odds here.
