Best NHL Prop Bets & Anytime Goal Scorer Picks Today, April 5, 2026
As the NHL regular season winds down, we’ve got an action packed seven-game slate on the ice for Easter Sunday. There is plenty of jockeying for playoff positioning, especially in the muddled Western Conference, where two teams enter Sunday tied for the second wild card spot. Three others were within four points with less than two weeks to go in the regular season. Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference playoff chase entered Sunday with four teams tied for for the second wild card spot and Washington one point back.
With such a busy slate on the docket, there are some solid options for your NHL prop bets and anytime goal scorer picks across the league. Let’s take a look at some of the top plays to help you walk away a winner at the window. Odds are courtesy of BetMGM and were current as of 1 am ET April 5.
Anytime Goal Scorer Picks Today
Cole Caufield, Canadiens Over 0.5 Goals (+110): Caufield entered Saturday night second in the league in goals on the season with 49. That number is two behind Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon, who tallied his 51st goal of the year in the Avalanche’s win over the Stars. He had tallied 10 goals in his previous 10 games, lighting the lamp in seven of them. Caufield had a shooting percentage of 21.2% entering Saturday night. He has set career highs in goals, points (83) and plus/minus (+30) entering Saturday. At home, in the back half of a home-and-home set with the Devils, look for Caufield to light the lamp.
Rickard Rakell, Penguins Over 0.5 Goals (+180): There may not be too many guys right now hotter than Rakell. He scored Saturday in Pittsburgh’s drubbing of Florida. That marked his fourth straight game with a goal. He has nine goals on the board in his last 10 games. Rakell has dented the twine in seven of those 10 games in the stretch. He’s put up eight goals and 11 points in his last eight games. With Florida’s issues at keeping the puck out of their net, coupled with being eliminated from playoff contention, and you have to think Rakell could light the lamp again here.
Jack Hughes, Devils Over 0.5 Goals (+150): Right on Rakell’s heels as one of the hottest goal scorers recently is Hughes. New Jersey needs to get hot and have help to leapfrog several teams in an effort to make the postseason. Hughes has done his part, scoring seven goals and handing out eight assists in his last seven games. That includes a goal and an assist in the Devils’ 4-3 shootout loss to Montreal Saturday night. New Jersey knows they go as their captain does and he is clicking right now. He’ll see plenty of ice time Sunday and that gives him prime opportunities to find the back of the net.

Matt Boldy, Wild Over 2.5 Shots (-128): Boldy may have recorded only two shots on goal against Ottawa Saturday but that was a low volume showing. He has fired at least three shots on goal in seven of his last 10 games entering this contest. On the season, Boldy has averaged 3.35 shots per game, firing 241 shots on goal in 72 contests this season. Immediately prior to Saturday’s showing, Boldy had five shots against Boston March 28 and six against Vancouver April 2. With Ottawa keying on Kirill Kaprizov, Boldy will get his opportunities to fire rubber on net. It would be no surprise to see him with three-plus shots here.
Morgan Geekie, Bruins Over 1.5 Shots (-145): Geekie has hit the wall of late as he hasn’t scored in his last 16 games. His last marker came on March 5 in a 6-3 Bruins loss to Nashville. In half of those contests, he was limited to one or zero shots. On the plus side, Geekie has been seeking opportunities more in the first couple games of April. He had three shots on net in the Bruins’ loss to Florida Thursday night. Geekie followed that up with two shots in Saturday’s defeat to Tampa Bay. With Boston battling for playoff seeding and Geekie wanting to get off the schneid here, look for him to fire plenty of pucks on net.
Parlay of the Day
- Morgan Geekie, Bruins Over 1.5 Shots (-145)
- Rickard Rakell, Penguins Over 0.5 Goals (+180)
- Matt Boldy, Wild Over 2.5 Shots (-128)
Total Odds: +743
We discussed these above. Geekie is trying to get back to the torrid goal scoring pace he had early in the season. Meanwhile, Boston needs him to step up and support David Pastrnak and company to help Boston succeed. Boldy has been solid all season long and has developed into a dangerous scoring option. There isn’t anyone in the league as hot as Rakell right now when it comes to putting the biscuit in the basket, barring maybe Caufield. Still, facing Florida, an injury ravaged squad that was just eliminated from playoff contention, primes Rakell for another stat sheet stuffing performance.
