As the NHL postseason’s first round rolls on, we’ve got a three-game slate on the ice for Saturday. Two of the three contests are elimination games, while the other features a pair of division rivals: one trying to square the series, the other seeking a 3-1 edge. Let’s break down the schedule.

NHL Schedule

With this slate on the docket, there are some solid options for your NHL prop bets and anytime goal scorer picks across the league. It’s time for players to make a name for themselves. Let’s take a look at some of the top plays to help you walk away a winner at the window.

Anytime Goal Scorer Picks Today

Mavrik Bourque, Stars Over 0.5 Goals (+500, FanDuel)

Bourque has had plenty of scoring chances in this series but has yet to dent the twine. He has six shots on net and nine scoring chances on the books in the opening three games. Bourque is on a line with Jason Robertson and Matt Duchene. That duo has combined for five goals and five assists in the series. Meanwhile, Bourque is sitting on a big, fat goose egg on the scoresheet so far this series. Look for Minnesota to try shutting them down, freeing Bourque up for opportunities to cash in his first of the playoffs.

Andrei Svechnikov, Hurricanes Over 0.5 Goals (+235, DraftKings)

Granted, goals have been at a premium in this series: the teams have combined for just 10 goals in the three games. That makes banking on someone to score a dicey proposition but Svechnikov is a guy that seems due. He’s averaging 19:40 in ice time in the series and is tied for the team lead with 15 shots on goal. Svechnikov scored 31 times in 79 regular season games this season. In his playoff career, he has 23 goals in 69 games. With the Hurricanes going for the sweep, even  an empty-netter gets the job done.

Richard Rakell, Penguins Over 0.5 Goals (+210, FanDuel)

Rakell was hot down the stretch of the regular season, scoring 10 goals in his last 11 games. In the playoffs, he has two assists on the books but is still looking for his first goal of the postseason. The Penguins have just four goals in the three games in this series. Obviously, they need some offensive production if they hope to extend this series. Playing on the top line with Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust, Rakell has the linemates he needs to be a threat. If Pittsburgh survives, Rakell may be the one to do the job here.

Top NHL Prop Bets Today

If you’re looking at sides instead of individual players, we have you covered there as well.

Hurricanes vs. Senators Under 6 (-120, BetMGM)

This has been a tight series despite the Hurricanes taking a 3-0 series lead. Goals have come at a premium in the first two games. Carolina won the opener 2-0 and then needed double overtime to take a 3-2 win Monday night. That included a missed penalty shot in the first overtime period by Jordan Martinook. In Game 3, two goals again proved to be enough offense to put one in the win column. Ottawa was stingy at home in the regular season, especially at even-strength. With just 10 combined goals in the series, expecting anything other than the status quo is foolhardy.

Stars vs. Wild Over 5.5 (-135, Fanatics)

These teams have met four times in the last two-plus weeks, once in the regular season and the three playoff matchups. In those games, we’ve seen nine, seven, six and seven goals on the board. Meanwhile, that adds up to the over posting a 3-0-1 mark in those games. There is plenty of firepower on both sides of the ice. Conversely, the goaltending has been mediocre despite the names between the pipes. This one should be another high-octane offensive attack and even another 4-2 matchup puts this one in the win column.
