Best NHL Player Props and Parlay Picks Today Dec. 19
As the Christmas break looms, we begin to approach the midway point of the NHL season. So far, it's become abundantly clear that the Colorado Avalanche are the best team in the league by some distance. In any other season, the Dallas Stars would find themselves as the league's top team. However, the Avalanche are on a record-breaking pace, and the Stars are six points behind.
After the stunning trade for 2023-24 Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes, the Wild have to be our choice for number three in the league. In the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes reign supreme right now, taking our number four spot. We'll have the Washington Capitals and Las Vegas Golden Knights share our fifth spot.
Tonight, there are five games on tap, so there's a ton of value to be had at our favorite betting sites. Take advantage of all the latest sportsbook promos to maximize your winnings tonight. Check out the latest NHL odds and get in the action.
Without further ado, here are our top NHL player props, anytime goal scorer picks, and a juicy parlay.
NHL Anytime Goal Scorer Picks
Nathan MacKinnon Anytime Goal Scorer (-120)
🏒 Odds via FanDuel 🥅
Whenever the Avalanche play, we bet on Nathan MacKinnon to score and Colorado to win. That's been our rule all season, and it's paid off in a big way.
MacKinnon's stats are just off the charts right now. He's contributed multiple points in nine of Colorado's last 11 games, including each of his last four. MacKinnon currently has 28 goals and 30 assists through 33 games, meaning he's on pace for a 70-goal, 75-assist season.
Mind you - nobody has scored 70 goals since Alexander Mogilny and Teemu Selanne (76 goals each) in the 1992-93 season. In fact, a 70/70 season has only been achieved eight times in NHL history. Wayne Gretzky achieved this four times, and Mario Lemieux did this on two occasions, including the last occurrence in the 1988-89 season.
If you want to be pretty safe, pair the Colorado Avalanche -1.5 and Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal scorer for a +181.
Wyatt Johnston Anytime Goal Scorer (+180)
🏒 Odds via DraftKings 🥅
With Jason Robertson having a few off games, it's been Wyatt Johnston who has stepped up for the Dallas Stars.
After scoring a hat trick against Ottawa, Johnston went on a seven-game goalless run before netting three in his last two games. Johnston has also helped out in the assists department, having accumulated points in six of his last seven games.
Against the 24th-ranked defense in the league, we expect Johnston to have himself a lovely day at the office.
Anders Lee Anytime Goal Scorer (+210)
🏒 Odds via FanDuel 🥅
With all the injuries that the Islanders have suffered in recent weeks, Anders Lee has been the one threatening most in front of the goal. With increased minutes, he's getting a ton of shots on goal, and he just had a four-point performance last week.
He's a regular 30-40 goalscorer, so it's only a matter of time before he starts hitting the net regularly.
NHL Player Props
Matthew Schaefer 1+ Points (-134)
🏒 Odds via Caesars Sportsbook 🥅
With so many injuries in the Islanders squad, Schaefer has been stepping up and showing the league that he's capable of leading from the back.
The Islanders are looking like one of the better teams in the league and even have some of the most difficult wins in all of hockey, having beaten both the Avalanche and the Stars in regulation.
Schaefer has three points in his last five outings and has attempted 35 shots over his last four games, including 12 against Detroit on Tuesday.
Wyatt Johnston 2+ Points (+225)
🏒 Odds via Caesars Sportsbook 🥅
We already think Johnston is going to score tonight and we think a two-point game is also on the cards. He has multi-point efforts in his last two games and four of his last seven outings, while Jason Robertson has gone through a rare quiet spell.
In his fourth year in the league, Johnston is on pace to have career highs in both goals and assists, as he has done in every season thus far.
Seth Jarvis 1+ Points (-154)
We're taking Seth Jarvis to accumulate at least a point tonight because his price is way, way too low. While Jarvis hardly puts up any multi-point games, he's only went without a point 12 times this season.
Jarvis is on pace to obliterate his career-high 33 goals two seasons ago, having already scored 19 before Christmas.
