Best NBA Player Props Today, 04/24: Can White Start Hitting From Downtown?
We’ve got a two-game slate on the NBA hardwood for Friday as the postseason’s first round rolls on. Three of the eight first-round series have played three games at this point. Meanwhile, one team that takes the floor tonight seek a 3-0 series advantage. The other two series will see one side leave with a 2-1 series advantage.
Let’s take a spin around the league and see what’s on tap while identifying the best NBA bets today.
NBA Schedule
- Celtics @ 76ers, 7 pm ET (Series tied 1-1)
- Lakers @ Rockets, 8 pm ET (Lakers lead 2-0)
- Spurs @ Trail Blazers, 10:30 pm ET (Series tied 1-1)
Best NBA Bets Today – Player Props
De’Aaron Fox, Spurs Over 18.5 Points (-130, BetMGM)
Granted, Fox’s production varies depending on whether or not Victor Wembanyama takes the floor. He put up 17 in each of the first two games of this series. If Wembanyama isn’t cleared from the concussion protocol in time for this contest, Fox and Stephon Castle will be looked at to step up their game offensively. Fox can ill afford to settle for being a jump shooter. He’s at his best when he’s driving the lane and creating opportunities inside. Expect him to make scoring a priority and end up with 20-plus points here.
Derrick White, Celtics Over 2.5 Three-Pointers (+100, BetMGM)
White has to be better than he was in the first two games of the season. The Celtics struggled from the perimeter in the first two games of the series. After going 16 of 44 from beyond the arc in Game 1, Boston was 13 of 50 in Game 2 Tuesday night. White is a big reason why the team has sputtered. He is just four of 17 from beyond the arc in the first two games of the series. He’s gotten clean looks on the majority of his attempts. Sooner or later, those are going to go down. Take the over in this contest as White knocks down at least three triples.
Kevin Durant, Rockets Over 5.5 Rebounds (+122, FanDuel)
Durant missed Game 1 with a knee injury and returned to action in Game 2. The Rockets need Durant to step up and be the leader on both ends of the floor. He was hurt by nine turnovers in the contest. Durant did pull down six boards in Game 2. That marked the fifth time in the last eight games where he’s collected at least six rebounds. Durant had five rebounds in two other games in that stretch. With the Lakers third-worst in the postseason in rebounding, Durant should exceed the number.

Celtics -7.5 (-104, FanDuel)
Boston was uninspiring in Game 2 of the series as they were cold from the field. The Celtics shot 39% from the floor, including a dismal 13 of 50 from three-point range, in the contest. Boston needs more from Derrick White (three of 12, eight points in 39 minutes) and Payton Pritchard (two of eight, four points in 27 minutes) in order to have success. Give Philadelphia credit for their win in Game 2 but they still don’t have their anchor in Embiid. The 76ers are at home but they are 24-18 as the hosts this year. Boston has a better road record (26-15) than Philadelphia does at home. Take the Celtics here as they get back in the win column.
Spurs -1.5 (-110, BetMGM)
There is a lot in flux when it comes to this contest. It’s unclear if Wembanyama will take the floor here, wait until Sunday’s Game 4 or beyond at this stage. All Mitch Johnson has said is that he hasn’t been ruled out for this one. Portland was strong down the stretch as they rallied to win Game 2 and return home for this contest. The Trail Blazers were 24-17 at home on the year and they have momentum. Portland’s biggest concern is putting together a full 48 minutes. Until we actually see that happen, you have to fade them a bit, even at home. Take San Antonio here to regroup, with or without Wembanyama.
