Best NBA Player Props: Anthony Davis, Gabe Vincent Wednesday Night

Written By Josh Lander on April 19, 2023

The NBA Playoffs roll on with three more Game 2s tonight. Let’s stay hot with these NBA player props. Tipping things off is Lakers vs. Grizzlies, then Heat vs. Bucks, and the night cap is Timbwerolves vs. Nuggets. In Memphis, Anthony Davis and Los Angeles look to keep things going with 1-0 series lead and a 7:00 p.m. ET tip-off. The Lakers are favorites in the game, which features a point total set at .

While I like the Lakers to win Game 2, I don’t think they’ll need too much from Anthony Davis and Gabe Vincent is ripe for another solid performance in Milwaukee. Let’s take a look at why I’m going under an AD prop and squeezing the juice on a Vincent over. Lakers At Grizzlies NBA Player Props

Below are the available NBA player props for the game between the Lakers at Grizzlies.

Anthony Davis Under 40.5 Points, Rebounds, and Assists Combo (-110 DraftKings | 1.5u)

Here are Davis’s core points, rebounds, and assists props for the game against the Grizzlies:

  • Points: Over/Under /
  • Rebounds: Over/Under /
  • Assists: /

The Lakers dominated the second half of Game 1 to pull away from the Grizzlies for a 16-point victory. Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves powered LA after the break, combining for 37 points including 7-7 from deep.

Anthony Davis had a solid performance in his own right, playing 18 minutes each half with nearly identical numbers in both. He ended the night with 22 points and 12 boards alongside an impressive display on defense with seven blocks and three steals. His hulking presence also kept Memphis off the glass, clearing out the lane and leading his team to a 45-34 rebounding advantage.

Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins knows he needs to adjust how his team defends the paint and attacks the boards. While his rotation of big men has thinned with injuries to Steven Adams and Brandon Clark, expect the Grizzlies to make noticeable adjustments to how they guard Davis in Game 2.

I expect the Lakers to handle business against a Memphis team that will most likely be without All-Star point guard, Ja Morant, who suffered an injury to his shooting hand on Sunday. AD may have a solid game against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, but the projections for him are too high for a game that I see slowing down from its frenetic pace in Game 1. I’m taking Davis to go under his points, rebounds and assists combo prop in Game 2.

How Much AD Will We See?

The answer to that question is highly dependent upon the flow of the game. I see this game going one of two ways and both outcomes should equate to a lack of counting stats for Davis.

In scenario 1, the Grizzlies come flying out of the gates as they play for their playoff lives. Memphis would find itself in a cavernous hole if it goes down 2-0 with the following two games in Los Angeles. Only 7% of teams that have gone down 2-0 in a playoff series have comeback to win it.

If the Grizzlies can make an early statement and take the lead, they’ll need to rely on Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks to shoot much better than they did in Game 1. The two guards combined for 37 points on 35% from the field. Both starters, as well as Jaren Jackson Jr., see a large increase in their usage rates with Morant out of the lineup, so expect them all to shoot early and often.

If those shots are going in, Davis won’t have nearly as many opportunities for rebounds, even if he does put up a decent amount of points.

Scenario 2

In scenario 2, the Grizzlies are unable to connect in the first half and miss a ton of shots like they did in Game 1. While this opens up more rebounds for Davis, it also means he is the player starting the fast break for LA and less likely to score on the other end of the floor.

The Lakers will look to outscore the Grizzlies early if they fail to make shots and with LeBron James healthy and active, that means picking up the pace. When James was in the lineup this season, the Lakers played at a 100 Pace, compared to a 96 Pace without him. If Davis is getting defensive rebounds, he’s not scoring on the fast break. If he doesn’t get a lot of defensive boards, then he’s scoring but not rebounding. He can’t do both!

If the Grizzlies aren’t hitting shots, it also means this game could get out of hand quickly. Lakers coach Darvin Ham would love the opportunity to limit Davis’s minutes in the second half, allowing him extra rest before Game 3. The Lakers and Grizzlies won’t meet again until Saturday, April 22 in Los Angeles.

Heat At Bucks NBA Player Props

Gabe Vincent and Miami are up 1-0 in Milwaukee with Bucks’ superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo’s listed as questionable to play on the 3:30 p.m. injury report. Game 2 starts at 9 p.m. E.T where the Heat is underdogs with a point total set at . Here is the the full odds table for Heat at Bucks player props.

Gabe Vincent o9.5 Pts (-122 FD | 1.5u) // 15+ Pts (+380 FD | .5 u)

Here are Vincent’s core points, rebounds and assists props for the game against the Bucks:

  • Points: Over/Under /
  • Rebounds: Over/Under /
  • Assists: Over/Under /

There were some exciting moments across the NBA’s early playoff games, but there were also some devastating ones. For the Miami Heat, one such devastating moment came in the second quarter of Game 1 of it’s victory in Milwaukee when Tyler Herro left with two broken fingers.

It was a crushing blow to Miami’s offense, which depended on Herro for 20 points and three three-pointers a night during the regular season. Herro also seemed to have his stroke going against the Bucks, scoring 12 points in 19 minutes of action before coming out in the second quarter.

For Heat starting point guard Gabe Vincent, Herro’s exit opened up a few more opportunities and he took full advantage. Vincent dropped 13 of his 15 points after Herro left Game 1, connecting on four of his five three-point attempts.

I agree with my Coast 2 Coast Podcast partner, Nate Weitzer and don’t see a ton of points coming in this game as we both prefer the under. But, Gabe Vincent’s points prop is way too low for this particular situation and I’m jumping all over it.

Miami Needs A Hero

Look no further than Gabe Vincent, Miami fans. No one on the Heat benefited more from Herro’s absence this season than Vincent. Without him in the lineup, Vincent nearly doubled his scoring average from 8.5 points per game to 15.5. His usage rate also rose from 15% to 20% in nine extra minutes of playing time.

Vincent fared incredibly well against the Bucks this season, particularly when Herro didn’t suit up. Miami faced Milwaukee four times during the regular season and Herro missed two of those games. In those two, Vincent stepped up massively and led both teams in scoring with 28 points on January 12 and 27 points just two days later in the rematch.

I’m backing Vincent to continue his solid play in this exact scenario once again on Wednesday night.

Timberwolves at Nuggets Player Props

The last matchup of the night is in Denver where the Nuggets and Timberwolves will meet for Game 2 at 10 p.m. E.T. Denver is favored by with a point total set at . I won’t be betting any props in this one.

Here is the full odds comparison table for T’Wolves at Nuggets player props.
