Browns Texans Anytime Touchdown Scorer Strategy
These two teams squared off in Week 16, but the Texans were down CJ Stroud in the game. The Browns scored 36 points, led by a historic performance by Amari Cooper, who hauled in 11 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Although a repeat of that game is highly unlikely for Cooper, he should still see plenty of work from Joe Flacco. The point total is a lukewarm , but two talented offenses playing indoors means this total could go over.
Both teams feature multiple offenses with several capable pass-catchers. Houston is a strong rush defense, leading the league in rushing success rate allowed. However, their pass defense leaves a bit to be desired, exaggerated in the teams’ last outing. The Browns clearly trust Flacco and moved away from being a ground-and-pound team. Between Weeks 14-17, Flacco attempted the most passes in the NFL (Note: Week 18 excluded due to starters resting almost league-wide).
Browns ATTD Scorer Bets Vs. Texans
WR Amari Cooper ()
Chasing players who just went off for historic numbers is usually a foolhardy move. However, it’s equally foolhardy – and unlikely – that Flacco doesn’t test the waters with Cooper again. Since Week 14, the Browns’ alpha saw a nearly 24% target share, falling short of just CeeDee Lamb in yardage since then. This game playing indoors gives more confidence in the passing game, and Houston exhibited the inability to cover Cooper the first time out successfully.
Be advised, though! Cooper is still on the injury report with a heel issue. Monitor his status.
TE David Njoku ()
Cooper may have 36 targets in his final four games with Flacco, but that’s still second on the Browns. The target leader in that stretch? David Njoku. The Chief also tied the NFL lead in receiving touchdowns during that stretch (four). Njoku sees high-confidence targets all over the field and threatens to score from anywhere, thanks to his athleticism. The season is on the line every game from here on out; expect a savvy veteran in Flacco to hyper-target his best playmakers.
As a bonus, no defense in the NFL allowed more completions to TEs this season than the Texans’.
