The battle for the National League is a combination of the usual faces and a couple of surprises. The Mets and Padres were left for dead earlier this season. The Dodgers have not been particularly successful in the playoffs going back years. Winning the World Series in the shortened, crowd-less 2020 season has not done much to reassure a fan base that has high expectations.

Philadelphia has similarly seen playoff heartbreak two years in a row. They blew series leads in both the 2022 World Series and the 2023 NLCS. The Phillies are hoping this is the year the bats don’t go cold in elimination games.

Wild Card Chances?

The other interesting note about National League Odds is that in the last two years, the NLCS has been fought by two Wild Card teams. The last time a team with more than 95 wins won the NLCS was in 2017. Full-season dominance hasn’t been rewarded in the National League playoffs in recent years. This could mean everything or nothing this year, but it's interesting.
