NFL Week 5 Anytime Touchdown Picks

Packers at Rams: TE Tucker Kraft Over 0.5 (+195) on Caesars

Josh Jacobs is hogging a lot of the TD equity in this game, but he hasn’t even dominated usage in the backfield lately, so I’m thinking there might be value elsewhere.

Enter Tucker Kraft. An afterthought heading into last season, as the second TE drafted by the team, he wound up playing more than expected thanks to injury to Luke Musgrave.

Well, Kraft appears to have taken the job and run with it. Despite Musgrave being healthy, Kraft is logging a whopping 82% snap share. He’s tied for second on the team in red-zone targets with Christian Watson, who won’t play, opening up further usage opportunities.

A lot of the attention has gone to WR Dontayvion Wicks, who spiked twice last week. However, it’s not even clear if he’s above Romeo Doubs in the pecking order there. Wicks had an atrocious start to the season before exploding in Week 3.

The Rams rank 25th in fantasy points allowed to TEs, per Ian Hartitz. I like the value on Kraft here for a team that has one of the week’s highest implied team totals.

Browns at Commanders: TE David Njoku Over 0.5 (+290) on DraftKings

Has Deshaun Watson’s dreadful start actually been far from a complete disaster, as the PFF graders would have you believe?

I’m not so sure, but I do expect better things this week against a Commanders defense that has been dreadful. They finally had a decent game last week against the Cardinals, yet they still rank 30th in defense DVOA and dead last in EPA/play allowed. I think the Browns will rediscover some scoring punch here.

But where is the value in the touchdown markets?

The RB usage has been inconsistent, and Jerome Ford is more of a receiver than a short yardage guy. Amari Cooper has relatively short odds, yet his connection with Watson has been atrocious so far this year.

In fact, the only guy Watson has seemed on the same page with is TE David Njoku. The Miami product has missed multiple games with an ankle injury. However, the fact he returned to practice on Wednesday, the first one of the week, is a very promising sign for his availability in this matchup.

The Commanders have done well statistically limiting TEs, but that looks like a product of playing none with a pulse so far (Trey McBride was out in Week 3).

I don’t mind a look at Watson himself to run one in, but I think the best value is on Njoku.

Broncos at Raiders: RB Javonte Williams Over 0.5 (+150) on Bet365

A very ugly game from which to try to pick a winner in anytime touchdown odds, but Javonte Williams might be in a good spot here.

Tyler Badie went down injured in Week 4 after surprisingly topping the team’s rushing charts in Week 3. The issue looked potentially serious, so he probably won’t be available here, opening up the chance for Williams to dominate the backfield once more. He looked up to the task in Week 4 with 16 carries for 77 yards. That represented by far the most consistent offense the Broncos produced in an otherwise brutal day.

The Raiders defense has been rough so far. And while Maxx Crosby, a low-key ace run defender, is expected to play, he probably won’t be 100%.

Courtland Sutton, who is dominating targets, may also be worth a look here, but I think the value is mainly with Williams. Bo Nix just isn’t a reliable enough passer, and finding starting RBs in this price range isn’t usually a thing.

What Are NFL Anytime Touchdown Picks?

If you are new to these wagers, they’re bets on a player to score a touchdown. Keep in mind that quarterbacks must run (or receive) for a touchdown to cash the prop — passing touchdowns do not apply to ATTD odds at NFL betting sites.

Thus, these are primarily the domain of offensive skill players, although you’ll find long odds for defensive and special teams players to score as well. Some NFL betting apps may lump “special teams/defense” into one bet.
