cowboys vs 49ers preview

The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers clash in an NFC showdown on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC). Both squads have struggled out of the gate and are looking to rebound after recent losses. The 49ers have injury issues, the most recent being wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk tearing his ACL.

That said, Kyle Shanahan's squad is one of the best rushing units in football, averaging 149.9 (seventh-most) rush yards per contest. Conveniently enough, this is where Dallas has struggled, as they allow 143.2 (sixth-highest) rush yards per game. The Lions most recently gashed them in Week 6, when Detroit tallied 36 carries for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

It's worth noting that these two teams squared off last season, and San Fran obliterated Mike McCarthy's squad 42-10. The 49ers had 41 rushes for 170 yards and two scores. Of course, Christian McCaffrey and Aiyuk were both healthy in that matchup.

While the Niners are without certain skill-position players, this could be a buy-low spot on Shanahan's squad, which will likely impose their will on a weak Cowboys run defense.
