Ja’Marr Chase odds At Ohio Sportsbooks

NFL Offensive player of the year odds

Can Ja’Marr Chase Win OPOY? His best available odds are ().

Chase slots in as the favorite at numerous sportsbooks to win the award. His speed, athleticism, and ability to make contested catches are nearly unmatched, making him a nightmare for opposing defenses. The talent is obviously there, but does he check enough boxes to win OPOY?

You must lead the league in a stat category or break a record to win the award. Three of the previous four winners of this award were wide receivers (Michael Thomas in 2019, Cooper Kupp in 2021, Justin Jefferson in 2022), and all of them led the league in receiving yards when they won. In 2021, Kupp finished a mere 19 yards shy of breaking Calvin Johnson‘s receiving yards record of 1,964.

The Bengals are one of the favorites in Super Bowl odds, implying the offense should be among the elites again.

Most Receiving Yards

Chase’s odds to have the most receiving yards in the NFL currently sit at . One issue facing Chase is that he has the very talented Tee Higgins lining up with him on offense, whereas rookie Jordan Addison flanks Jefferson.

The presence of Higgins shouldn’t prevent Chase from finishing high in receiving yards; look no further than Tyreek Hill, who slots in at to lead the NFL in this stat. Hill notched more than 1,700 receiving yards last season, despite playing alongside the speedy Jaylen Waddle.

In 12 games last year, Chase logged 84 receptions for 1,046 yards and nine touchdowns. This pace for an entire 17-game season would’ve put him at 123 receptions (second) for 1,482 yards (fifth) and 12 touchdowns (tied for second). His receiving yards prop currently sits at .

Chase finished with nine touchdowns in 12 games a year ago. Had he played the full season, he was on pace for 12 TDs, good enough for second most in the league. Can he lead the league this year though?

The odds suggest he can, as does his performance in the redzone last season. Chase finished with a whopping 24 targets in the redzone in 2022, good enough for third-most in the league. For reference, only Travis Kelce, and Jefferson finished ahead of him. Having the 6-foot-4 Higgins on the field provides matchup nightmares for opposing defenses inside the 20. Defending Chase is already problematic, adding an enormous threat like Higgins to the equation makes defending the Bengals redzone offense a tall task.

For reference, when Kupp led the league with 16 TDs in 2021 and won OPOY, he notched 36 redzone targets. Chase was on pace for 34 redzone targets a year ago. The volume of targets will certainly be there again.

Most Receptions

Once again, each of the last three receivers to win OPOY led the league in receptions in their respective seasons.

Chase simply faces an uphill challenge to finish with most receptions in 2023 with Higgins on the roster. That said, former TE Hayden Hurst, who gobbled up 52 receptions a year ago is now on the Panthers. 24-year-old Irv Smith Jr. figures to slot in as TE1 for the Bengals. Smith has yet to surpass 36 receptions in a season, however.

Zac Taylor and company may move away from utilizing tight ends and lean more on their talented group of wide receivers.

If you’re thinking about using some Bengals sportsbook promos on Ja’Marr Chase, the target share will certainly be there for him.

If the duo of Burrow and Chase stay healthy for the full season, the stats will come naturally. Should Chase finish with the most receiving yards in the league and the Bengals win enough games, he’ll be in an ideal position to take home Offensive Player of the Year in 2023.
