Belmont Stakes 2022: Skippylongstocking Horse Racing Profile

Written By Brett Gibbons on June 6, 2022 - Last Updated on June 9, 2022

Skippylongstocking was a longshot in the Preakness, but he had a decent running to finish fifth. His connections are running him back for the final jewel of the Triple Crown, where Skippylongstocking will likely be a longshot again among Belmont Stakes picks on Saturday, June 11.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to know to consider betting the horse in the Belmont.

The Word On Skippylongstocking

On Saturday, Skippylongstocking breezed five furlongs in 1:02.4 in his final workout for the Belmont Stakes.

From TheLines’ Stephen Andress: Proved to be a cut below the best in the Preakness field, despite another slight improvement, but still not near the triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures required at this stage in the schedule. Had a rest advantage over post-time favorite Epicenter, and it didn’t matter, also losing soundly to Preakness winner Early Voting for a second time. Now on the wrong side of a rest advantage in the Belmont, it’s likely a toss for me.
