A change in the Triple Crown schedule has the Belmont Stakes (G1) batting leadoff out of the gate this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More big changes are in store on June 20 as the fences have been pulled in for this annual 1 ½ mile Test of the Champion; the race distance has been reduced to 1 1/8 miles.

The betting is expected to be big for this year’s Belmont Stakes despite the defections of race favorites Nadal (retired) and Charlatan (ankle injury). Undefeated Maxfield was also rerouted from the Belmont Stakes to the Blue Grass before a recent ankle injury sidelined him for the Triple Crown series.

Three-time winning Belmont Stakes trainer Todd Pletcher has also decided to move Gouverneur Morris to the Blue Grass Stakes (G2) July 11 instead of running him in the Belmont with his two other contenders, Dr. Post and Farmington Road.

Meanwhile, expected Belmont Stakes favorite Tiz the Law, bred in New York, will be heavily bet on Saturday.

Millions of fans will bet not only on the Belmont Stakes (G1), but the biggest racing day of the year at the track. Four Grade 1 races plus a Grade II and Grade III race give fans a bonanza of betting opportunities at Belmont.

Last year, $102 million was wagered on Belmont day races, including more than $90 million off-site. Most of that was wagered online and from fans mobile devices in at least 31 states. With no fans allowed at the track for Belmont Stakes day, expectations are for even more money to be bet online and from mobile devices and apps.

Fans can watch the 152nd Belmont Stakes on NBC. The network provides comprehensive race coverage and analysis live on TV and NBCSports.com before, during and after the main event. Coverage runs June 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on NBC

Fans looking to wager on the race can turn to TVG, TwinSpires and BetAmerica for free and legal US horse race betting. In this article, we’ll walk you through how to sign up for these sites and receive free money to place your bets on the race.

When betting the Belmont Stakes, the casual fan doesn’t want a race dissertation on pace and breakdown or all details and past performances of horses. Most fans and recreational bettors want to know a select few horses that they can bet on to win the race and add to their exotic picks and bets.

One of the premier places to watch and wager on the Belmont Stakes and other live races is TVG, a digital, cable and television network owned by the FanDuel Group. TVG offers a one-stop shop for all horse racing fans with online wagering, a betting app and live streaming and race results. No waiting in lines, delays or errors by race tellers.

Other options to bet on the Belmont Stakes include TwinSpires and BetAmerica.
