How Will UNC Odds Fare?

While sportsbooks typically wait for the college football national championship game to conclude before releasing future betting markets for the following season, they’ve released the 2025 Tar Heels’ win total following Belichick’s hiring. Per the table above, it’s between 6.5 and 7.5.

Next year, Belichick will be aided by a highly favorable schedule. UNC will square off five teams, including Richmond, that notched a winning regular-season record in 2024. For reference, the Spiders are an FCS program. The Heels will host three meetings with winning programs at Kenan Stadium. Their full schedule is below.

  • Aug. 30: TCU at North Carolina
  • Sept. 6: North Carolina at Charlotte
  • Sept. 13: Richmond at North Carolina
  • Sept. 20: North Carolina at UCF
  • TBA: North Carolina at California
  • TBA: North Carolina at NC State
  • TBA: Clemson at North Carolina
  • TBA: Duke at North Carolina
  • TBA: Stanford at North Carolina
  • TBA: Virginia at North Carolina
  • TBA: North Carolina at Syracuse
  • TBA: North Carolina at Wake Forest

The legendary NFL coach replaces Mack Brown, who was fired from UNC in November despite earning more wins than any football head coach in program history. The Heels went 6-6 straight up this season but tallied a 2-9-1 mark against the spread, the second-worst ATS record across FBS. They’ll battle UConn in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl on Dec. 28, favored around the key number of a field goal.
