Why did you decide to become a sports journalist?
Like most kids, I grew up loving sports and spent countless hours watching games both on television and in person. After playing competitive basketball through high school, including AAU, and spending time as an NBA ball boy, I found journalism to be a way to stay connected to the game while sharing that passion and perspective with other fans.
How do you research and verify the information in your articles?
Sports coverage has never been more accessible than it is today. Between live broadcasts, archived game footage, press conferences, official league communications, statistical databases, and credentialed media availability, there are countless resources available to verify information and provide context before publishing. I rely on multiple trusted sources and trusted analytics platforms to ensure every story is accurate, well-supported, and complete.
What is most important to you when writing sports content?
Making sports easy to understand without sacrificing accuracy. Topics like salary caps, contract negotiations, roster construction, advanced analytics, and betting markets can become complicated quickly, so I take pride in breaking them down into clear, concise explanations that any fan can follow while still providing meaningful depth.
How do you stay up to date with the sports and leagues you cover?
I stay connected by watching games, following league and team announcements, monitoring press conferences and media availability, tracking trusted reporters, and studying both traditional and advanced statistics. Staying informed is a daily process that extends well beyond game days.
Do you have any direct experience in sports (playing, coaching, officiating, or analytics)?
I played competitive basketball through high school, including AAU, before transitioning into sports media. Since then, I’ve spent nearly a decade covering games in person, scouting NBA Draft prospects around the world, traveling extensively to cover major sporting events, and building experience through writing, podcasting, player evaluation, and sports analysis.
