Why did you decide to become a sports journalist?
I became a sports writer and editor in part because of my passion for the leagues I’ve enjoyed watching with my friends and family over the years. Writing was a key component of my political science undergraduate program, so I chose to pursue these two avenues throughout my career.
How do you research and verify the information in your articles?
I use sports statistics and analytics to identify trends and generate conclusions before putting each piece of content through a thorough editorial and fact-checking process.
What is most important for you when writing sports content?
Timeliness and accuracy are crucial for any high-quality content, particularly sports news.
How do you stay up to date with sports and leagues you cover?
I watch a lot of live sports and highlight shows throughout the week. I also read news articles, play fantasy sports, and place wagers to keep tabs on the latest stats, analytics, and trends that are useful to bettors.
Do you have any direct experience in sports? (playing, coaching, or analytics)
I played on several teams over the years, including hockey, football, rugby, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. I have also played tennis and golf since my childhood, and currently enjoy playing in a Toronto ball hockey league.
